I leaned in, my voice low and firm. “You have no control over me anymore. No power, no authority, and no right to insult me. I’m done being your punching bag, and I’m done letting you belittle me. You can keep living in your delusions, but you’ll never put me down again.”
Her mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water, but no words came out. For once, she didn’t have a cutting remark or a snide comment. She just stood there, glaring at me as if willing her words to hurt me–but they didn’t.

I stepped back, adjusting my stance, and gave her a cold smile. “I suggest you focus on cleaning up the mess your son made instead of trying to blame me. Maybe then, you’ll find something more productive to do with your
time.”
Without waiting for a response, I turned and walked away. My heart was racing, but I felt lighter. Years of biting my tongue, enduring her insults, and letting her walk all over me were finally over.
