Chapter 10
The tightly shut doors and windows blocked out all the sunlight. The room was steeped in darkness.
Dylan had tossed his phone aside. The ringing was annoying, but he couldn’t even bring himself to answer or check his phone.
Yet, the caller seemed to be engaged in a silent battle with him. The more he refused to pick up, the more the caller spammed him.
After a brief tug–of–war, Dylan yielded.
Frowning, he checked his phone and saw Kaitlyn’s name on the screen, which caused him unexplainable irritation.
He hung up on her without hesitation and blocked her. When peace was restored, he let out a soft sigh of relief.
Not long after, an unknown number called him again. He immediately knew it was Kaitlyn, so he blocked the number.
He stared numbly at the ceiling while lying in the comfortable king–sized bed. Julia’s smiling face filled his mind.
In the past, he never realized how important Julia was to him.
Unfortunately, he could not enjoy his peace for long, as Kaitlyn had shown up in person.
“Dylan, what’s that supposed to mean?” Kaitlyn pushed open the door to his room without a care.
Her eyes reflected anger and bitterness.
She had willingly agreed to their marriage arrangement, knowing she’d benefit from it.
Dylan was good–looking, and their families were equals. When they first met, he treated her gentlemanly.
The only flaw was that he brought home the woman he dated when he lost his memory.
Thankfully, Tessa reassured Kaitlyn she’d send Julia away. Besides, Dylan clearly favored her over Julia. So, Kaitlyn did not take Julia’s presence to heart.
It wasn’t until Dylan went uncontactable yesterday that she asked him what was wrong. After she questioned him multiple times, he finally confessed that Julia had left without telling anyone.
At first, Kaitlyn thought he wouldn’t care. In the past, he didn’t seem to care about Julia anyway.

Yet Dylan was very affected by Julia’s departure, to the point that he locked himself in his room.
He looked up for a while. When he saw Kaitlyn at the door, he returned to his bed with a lifeless look.
“She’s just an unimportant woman. Remember, Dylan, I’m your future wife!” Kaitlyn felt upset at his attitude and tried to yank him up from the bed.
At Kaitlyn’s cool touch, he felt a strong feeling of uneasiness. He almost instinctively shoved her away.
“Ahh!” Kaitlyn let out a scream, totally not expecting him to hit her.
Caught off guard, she stumbled and fell hard onto the ground. The searing pain caused her to tear up.
“Dylan, did you just shove me?” she gasped in disbelief, looking pitiful with tears in her eyes.
Dylan seemed to have belatedly realized his actions, but he struggled to explain himself. In the end, he fell silent.
Even he had no idea what had gotten into him. Their marriage arrangement wasn’t new–in fact, he had given his tacit approval from the beginning.
He was Schneider Group’s only heir, the most talented and dazzling of them all in his social circle. Since childhood, he has been a role model for other kids and widely admired.
People admired and envied him for his brains, wealth, and good looks.
As a well–rounded man, he couldn’t possibly marry an orphan who came from nothing.
He repeatedly reminded himself that he was out of Julia’s league, but he never thought she’d leave his side.
He had planned to keep julia around even after he married Kaitlyn, as it wouldn’t be right to send Julia back to her impoverished old life.
Yet, Julia had decided to leave without telling anyone. She left with sheer determination, giving him no chance to make her stay.
At last, he belatedly discovered that the years he spent with Julia had become an inseparable part of his life.
When he stared at Kaitlyn, who remained seated on the floor, regret finally crept in.
