Chapter 12
Dylan, clueless about his identity, naturally did not recall his promise to reward Julia for saving his life.
Julia felt the sting from paying for the hospital bills and the missed income from taking a day off. So, she decided to take him in and put him to work. Meanwhile, she was waiting for his reward.
This went on for three years. They leaned on each other in the difficult days, and love blossomed.
Dylan declared his love for Julia and promised to make a lot of money so he could marry her. He even quietly tattooed her name on his collarbone behind her back.
When she saw the tattoo, his skin was still red from the tattooing. He grimaced upon touch but still forced a silly smile when she looked at him.
That was the happiest Julia had been since her parents passed away.
She naively believed they’d be happy forever after, but Dylan’s real identity was not a poor man she had taken in.
When he regained his memories, he brought her along after reuniting with his family. They even moved into a massive villa.
But Dylan had changed, and he was no longer the loyal man from before.
Julia’s train of thought was interrupted by her ringing phone. After pulling out her phone, she heaved a sigh when she saw the name “Miles Wilson” on the screen.
Thankfully, her memories with Dylan were in the past. She had a whole new life now.
When she answered the call, she heard a clear, crisp voice from the other end.
“Jules, have you arrived?”
She nodded but soon realized Miles couldn’t see her.
She replied, “I’ve arrived safely. How about you?”
“Well, I ran into some issues. I’ll need a few more days before I can join you.”
She caught him sighing, which sent her laughing. “Is it something important?”
“No. It’s no big deal.) don’t worry. I’ll be there within a week. Sorry, dear Jules. You might have to report to work on your own.”
Julia felt reassured

e.mething at that moment. When he turned around, he glanced at the crowds and immediately spotted Julia.
He froze on the spot, fixing his eyes on Julia as though she would disappear if he blinked.
Soon, he tore off in Julia’s direction, only to bump into Kaitlyn, who was trying hard to catch up to him.
“Ouch!”
“Mr. Schneider!”
Kieran and Kaitlyn gasped at the same time. Dylan stumbled after bumping into them. When he looked up again, Julia, whom he dearly missed, was nowhere to be
seen.
Overcome with remorse and resentment, he acted without thinking and slapped the person in front of him.
The loud slap was followed by silence. The incident attracted curiosity or disdain from onlookers. Their sharp gazes were painfully embarrassing for Kaitlyn. The slap mark on her cheek was humiliating. Teary–eyed and aggrieved, she confronted him, “Dylan Schneider, how could you slap me? Why did you slap me?”
All she did was love him. How could he humiliate her and mistreat her just because she loved him?
She gained sympathy with her pitiful expression, but Dylan wasn’t among those who felt sorry for her.
Dylan stared coldly at Kaitlyn. He paused before snorting. “You have the choice to leave me too.”
He shut her up with that remark.
Indeed, she only had herself to blame for not learning her lesson and stubbornly clinging to Dylan. She brought this upon herself.
