Chapter 19
Julia met Miles five years ago.
At that time, she had just arrived in Elandria.
Though not entirely helpless, the language barrier and the loneliness of being far from home left her disoriented for a long time. She didn’t know what she was supposed to do or where her life was headed.
Miles was the first Calonian she met over there.
Later, after they gradually got to know each other better, he once teased her. He said that she was the first person he had ever met who not only couldn’t speak the local language, but also had no plan for her life.
In fact, she didn’t even have any passion for life, and yet had still come to a foreign country alone. On top of that, after two full months, she still couldn’t handle even basic day–to–day conversations.
However, she was lucky–because she met Miles when he was at his lowest point.
They ended up making a deal, and she offered him a generous salary to hire him as her guide.
He taught her Elandrian and everything she needed to know to live in Elandria.
When he saw she had no drive and direction in life, he helped her discover her talents and dreams.
Her right hand had been injured, preventing her from drawing. So, he kept her company as she trained her left hand. Her writing was all crooked and clumsy at the start, but it slowly improved over time.
Eventually, she reached the point where she could draw perfect design sketches with her non–dominant hand.
You could say that Julia would never have become who she was without Miles‘ early support and companionship.
But she never expected that Miles would fall in love with her.
The first time he confessed his feelings, she was stunned into silence and

He was no longer as bold in his approach as before, but he never gave up either.
“It’s okay, Jules. I’ll always stay by your side. I’ll be here until the day you finally let or not I’ll respect your choice.”
With those words, Julia had no reason to keep refusing and let him stay by her side.

The kettle whistled softly, signaling that the hot water was ready.
Julia reached for the kettle. Tea leaves danced about in the boiling water. As the color deepened, the rich aroma of t tea slowly began
Miles‘ gaze followed her, moving with her every action. He watched as she pushed the freshly steeped cup of tea toward him a creeping up her ears.
Unable to restrain himself, a low chuckle escaped his lips.
“Just drink your tea already.” She pushed the cup toward him, half–embarrassed, half–irritated.
Then, she muttered under her breath, “Even a cup of tea can’t keep your mouth shut.”

In the evening, the city lights started flickering on.
At Schneider Villa, Dylan sat on the couch, the light from the chandelier casting a shadow beneath his eyes.
In front of him was a kneeling group of people–those who once had been on equal footing with the Schneider family and had once pretended to be friends with Kaitlyn. But when the Lynch family fell from power, they quickly abandoned her, some even kicking her while she was down.
Even now, Kaitlyn still remembered the last time she saw them–how they had followed behind a wealthy heiress, mocking her with sneering contempt.
But now, those very same people were groveling at her feet with their right hands crushed into a bloody mess. Their screams of agony mixed with desperate pleas for mercy.
The screams filled her with immense satisfaction.
But outwardly, she pretended to hesitate, putting on an expression of reluctant mercy as she tugged on the man beside her. “Dylan, isn’t this a bit too cruel?”
She didn’t notice the flash of disgust that flickered in Dylan’s eyes the moment she touched him.
“Cruel?” he asked coldly. “They made mistakes. They deserve to be punished. Breaking only one hand is already letting them off
easy.”

Kaitlyn’s smile deepened at his response.
She knew it. Dylan still loved her.
Otherwise, why would he go so far as to capture and torture all these people just because they had mocked her a few years ago?
