When she first came back, she had played with Wallie countless times without any issues. Where was her allergy then?

I could not hold back my emotions any longer. I grabbed her by the arm and demanded, “Where did you throw him? Tell me!”
Melanie struggled to break free and screamed, “How should I know? He’s just an animal!”
An animal?
Wallie had been with me for so long that I saw him as family.
My mother’s sharp voice pierced the air. “Eliza, look at yourself! You’re acting like a shrew. Do you even realize that?”
Their favoritism was something I had long grown used to.
Reuben walked in and pulled my trembling body into his arms. His expression was cold as he looked at the group.
“Whatever she looks like now, it’s none of your business.”
The Jordans stared at Reuben, who had suddenly appeared, with expressions of shock and uncertainty. They had heard Melanie
gossip about some unclear connection between me and Reuben, but they had not taken it seriously.
After all, in their minds, the esteemed Reuben Griffin would never be interested in an orphan they had thrown out of their house.
Yet now, seeing this scene unfold before their eyes, they were not so sure anymore.
My father quickly plastered on a polite smile. “Mr. Griffin, why are you here? You and Eliza—”
Reuben cut him off, visibly annoyed. He turned his cold gaze to Melanie. “Cut the nonsense. Where’s Wallie?”
Melanie glared at me with jealousy, biting her lip under the family’s pressured stares.
“I had someone dump him over in West City. I don’t know where he is now.”
I tugged on Reuben’s sleeve, and after one last frosty glare at the Jordans, he wrapped an arm around me and led me out.
Once in the car, Devon and Aden looked at me with concern.
“Don’t worry,” Devon said firmly. “Even if we have to turn Jonsberg upside down, we’ll find Wallie.”
Watching them make call after call, my unease began to subside. When we got home, I ignored the three of them and went straight to bed.
They were grown men–I trusted they could take care of themselves. And if they ended up fighting? That was not my problem.
Any man with common sense would figure out how to handle his relationship with a rival without causing me extra stress.
Besides, if I did not get any sleep, how could the baby get any rest either?
Satisfied with my reasoning, I fell into a sound sleep.

The next morning, I came downstairs to see breakfast neatly arranged on the table, which included sliced fruits and perfectly
warm water. I nodded in approval.
Yet when I turned, I saw the three of them sitting on the couch, shooting daggers at each other with their eyes. I frowned.
“Why are you three still here?”
Their expressions darkened at my indifferent tone.
Devon was clearly annoyed as he said, “Let’s just eat. We’ve been waiting for you.”
Oh. Not bad.
They even knew not to start eating without me.
After finishing my meal, the four of us sat around, perfectly filling up the square table. The three exchanged a glance and then
looked at me. “So, what’s your plan?”
I blinked in confusion.
My plan? Clearly, I was keeping the baby! Did they think this was just any ordinary baby?
This was my ticket to a 30–billion–dollar jackpot!
I looked at them warily. “I’m having this baby.”
Aden sighed in exasperation. “Are you serious? Getting pregnancy brain already? Of course, we know you’re having the baby.
What we’re asking is, what’s your plan for the pregnancy? You can’t do it alone.”
