Chapter 1: Betrayal Unveiled

“I got a full hysterectomy because of her, and you stand there with her telling me bullshit?I screamed from my wheelchair, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might burst

The room went dead silent. Roman’s friends stood still, their eyes flickering nervously between us as Roman, my husband of fifteen years, stood beside her, his mistress

I didn’t mean for this to happen this way, and you’re blowing this out of proportion,Roman said, his hand wrapped tightly around her waist. Or wait, was I the mistress? How dare you say that to me?I choked out, the words stabbing into my chest like knives. It was because of her that I ended up in that accident, and now you’re telling me you’re married to her, and have kids?!”

Roman and I had been together since high school. I sacrificed everything, my family, my future, just for him. And now he was here, with her, betraying me again

It started years ago when I caught him in bed with another woman, the same woman standing here, now pregnant with his child. Back then, he swore it was nothing. I forgave him. I gave him everything, my savings, my dreams, to help his vision grow

Then, the accident happened. We were on our way to the store, Roman left to use the restroom, and thenthe crash. The other car hit mine so hard I slammed into the steering wheel, fainted, and woke up in surgery at eighteen, with my uterus gone. Motherhood was stripped from me, all because of the woman now standing before me, with a child that could have been mine

How long?I whispered, my voice cracking. How long have you two been together?”

After your accident,” he replied, his voice hollow

The silence around me felt suffocating. Fifteen years I had given him. Fifteen years of my life, and now it meant nothing

Roman handed me a check, his eyes cold, distant. “This is for you,” he said

I stared at the check: ten million dollars. My hands shook as I looked at him, shock, anger, and pain flooding my veins

His dream had come true after years of struggle. His project, the one he’d worked on tirelessly, had been picked up by a major company and turned into a huge success. He was living the life he always wanted, while I had sacrificed everything for him

You can’t do this to me, Roman. After all I’ve given up for youall I lostand now you go with her?I said, my voice shaking

Roman remained silent, only staring at me with that same empty expression. I swallowed hard, fighting back the tears

Is that why you told me not to press charges against her all those years ago? Because you were already seeing her?The silence that followed confirmed it. My heart shattered

I screamed, the pain rending through me. Roman, how dare you!”

I wheeled myself closer and pounded my fists on his chest, the anger and sorrow

overwhelming me. After everything, I gave up my family, my future, even my womb for you!”

Breaths came fast and uneven, my vision blurry from tears and snot mingling on my face. I felt exposed, raw

Stop, he never told you to do all that,Evelyn said, yanking my hand away. Her nailsthe same red bunny design I had seen two nights ago

Then it hit me. She was the reason I was in this wheelchair. Two nights ago, I heard voices in Roman’s study. When I tried to come down the stairs in the dark, someone pushed me. I had seen that red bunny design on the nails of the person who had shoved me

Roman, it was her. She pushed me down the stairs,I said, my voice trembling

Roman furrowed his brow, glancing at her. Evelyn’s face remained flawless, not a hint of guilt, as if she didn’t know what I was talking about

I had told the police I didn’t fall, that someone pushed me, but they didn’t believe me. And now I knew who it was

You’ve lost, and now you’re trying to frame me,she sniffed, rubbing her baby bump with a smug smile

Roman shook his head, wrapping his arm tighter around Evelyn. Stop making things up, Amanda. Evelyn would never hurt a fly, let alone push you.”

My heart splintered. The betrayal was too much. I stared at him, the man I had trusted with my life. The man who’d just stood there, cold and indifferent

Isn’t this money enough for you?Evelyn sneered. You should be grateful Roman even gives you anything.”

I looked at him for a brief moment. For a split second, I thought I saw guilt in his eyes, but it was fleeting, replaced quickly by a hardened indifference

I’m sorry, Amanda,Roman said, his voice flat, emotionless. We can’t be together. I have a life with Evelyn, with three kids…”

Evelyn interrupted, smiling smugly, Four, if you count this one.She rubbed her swollen belly, her grin widening as Roman nodded, agreeing without a second thought

The finality in his words felt like a punch to the gut

The divorce papers will be sent to you tomorrow. Please sign them. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be,he added, turning to mingle with his guests as if I were nothing more than a nuisance

The music started again, the guests ignoring me, as if they hadn’t just witnessed the ultimate betrayal. They moved around, chatting and laughing, oblivious to the devastation that consumed me

Mrs. Randall, should I take you home?a deep, husky voice asked, pulling me from the haze of pain

I turned to see Damien, my driver, his eyes filled with sympathy. I nodded, tears still streaming down my face. He wheeled me away, and as I left the room, all I could feel was

the crushing pain of Roman’s betraya
