Chapter 13
The sunlight spilled across Flynn’s figure, making his eyes seem even brighter.
When the bell rang, Flynn took off running in the distance, waving at her as he went. It was such a vivid and warm sight.
Nova was momentarily dazed. For a second, she felt like Flynn shone brighter than the sun.
The Project Westfort lasted two years. By now, Nova had grown close with the people of Feshral Village.
The villagers were very welcoming. On weekends, they often invited her onto their boats to experience the rhythm of fishing life firsthand.
This kind of simple countryside life had always been her dream. Now, she was living it.

Far away in Berning, Ewan was rushed to the hospital from alcohol poisoning. What happened with Wynter had wrecked him.
He regretted every second about how he had never given Nova the chance to explain, and how he had never seen Wynter for who she truly was until it was too late.
However, none of that mattered now when Nova was already gone.
He tried asking around for her whereabouts. No one could or would tell him where she had gone. He couldn’t tell whether it was because they didn’t know, or because they were hiding it on purpose. Even the people he hired to track her had turned up with nothing.
Eventually, he wondered if she had gone abroad. That would explain why she had vanished so completely. However, he checked every international flight and still couldn’t find any trace of Nova.
For the first time, Ewan realized just how big the world truly was. It was so big that once she walked away, he might never find her again.
Hence, he drowned himself in alcohol, trying to numb the guilt clawing at him.
It wasn’t a small mistake, not when it involved a kidney. He had shamelessly torn a part of her body out for Wynter.
His close friends came to visit him in the hospital. They all offered kind words and sympathy, but none of them knew why he was really drinking.
The only one who knew what had happened didn’t feel an ounce of sympathy. In his eyes, their relationship was none of his business, and there was no right or wrong when it came to love.
However, Ewan had hurt someone because of his selfishness. So, even though they were friends, he couldn’t defend him. Ewan had brought it all on himself.
Three days later, Ewan was discharged from the hospital.
He returned to the villa, glanced toward Nova’s room, and instinctively called out her name, “Nova.” However, there was no reply.
Before, she would come running, bright–eyed and calling his name with that soft and sweet voice. Now, it was nothing but an empty room.
His eyes dimmed, his steps unsteady as he clung to the handrail on his way up the stairs.
He tried going into Nova’s room to search for something that could prove she had once loved him.
However, the photo of them on the wall was split clean down the middle. The letters she had written to him had been burned to ash. Just like her presence, everything was completely gone from his world.
For so long, he had told her not to love him. Now that she didn’t, he regretted. Maybe this was what he deserved.
He let out a low, bitter laugh. The room that was once filled with their laughter was now nothing but a hollow space. In that moment, it felt like something was drilling a hole in his heart.
As he collapsed against the door, his phone rang. “This is the detective agency. We found the person you’re looking for.”
