Chapter 8
Ethan’s grip on Toby’s collar tightened, his knuckles bone–white as his furious voice lashed out.
“You slandered her innocence, and your refusal to accept your role in her death is just an act of avoidance! You’re desperately
trying to escape the truth that you personally killed your own Luna and heir!
“The corpse in the basement is Joyce! She and her pup died together!”
He punctuated his words by releasing Toby’s collar.
His words were a deliberate taunt as he added, “The only reason I haven’t reported Luna Joyce’s death is because I wanted to witness your downfall, to see you crumble when the truth finally broke you.
“Do you even dare let other healers perform an autopsy on the corpse, Toby? Or are you simply afraid to receive confirmation that the corpses are indeed Joyce and her pup?”
Toby suddenly stumbled a few steps as if he had lost all strength before finding his footing again.
When he returned to the villa, Cecilia had already changed into a sexy set of nightclothes and moved into the master bedroom.
She also had the Moonlight Ring, which had been repaired.
Her figure was wrapped in white fishnets, and she leaned bonelessly against Toby. “I’ve been waiting such a long time for this day to come, Alpha. After many twists and turns, I’ve finally become yours.”
She closed her eyes and stood on tiptoes, silently offering him her lips.
Unexpectedly, he rejected her intimate advances and pushed her away before averting his gaze. “There are still some pack matters that I need to handle, Cissy, so I’ll be going back to my office to deal with them first.”
He promptly turned and left, leaving Cecilia stamping her feet in anxiety. She ran after him, taking her clothes off as she did so.
However, even if she was completely naked, Toby’s only concern was for her well–being. “Make sure to cover yourself properly with the blankets when you sleep alone at night,” he instructed, his tone matter–of–fact. “The last thing we need is for you to
catch a chill.”
He then closed the bedroom door on her, but instead of leaving the villa, he headed down the stairs leading to the basement.
Was he finally going to confirm the truth?
When Toby mustered up the courage to open the basement door, he cursed endlessly upon realizing that the decomposing corpses were filling the room with a horrendous stench.
He retched continuously as he complained, “What exactly are you pulling, Joyce? I’m giving you one last chance! If you still refuse to come out, I’m really going to be angry!”
However, his cursing gradually quietened, and he walked over to squat in front of my corpse.
