eyes in an instant.
Magnus shot to his feet, the despair vanishing from his eyes in
“What did you say? Colette didn’t leave?!
“Where is she? I’m going to find her right now!”
After seeing the location Spencer sent, Magnus let out a long breath, the first true smile in days spreading across his face.
It was as if a weight had lifted, and he had been pulled from the depths of an endless abyss.
“I knew it Colette wouldn’t just leave.
“When she comes back, I’ll make it up to her. I’ll never let her down again.”2
Grabbing his car keys, Magnus spoke with a mix of excitement and anxiety, his voice tinged with urgency.”
“If Colette’s location changes, make sure to send me real–time tracking. I’m going to pick her up and marry her again!”}
The location Spencer sent was near the airport, and Magnus could almost picture Colette standing there alone, glancing at her phone over and over, waiting for him to find her.
He gripped the steering wheel, cursing himself for not being able to drive faster.8
Frustration surged through him, why hadn’t he realized it sooner? Why hadn’t he gone after her sooner??
But as soon as Magnus reached the airport, the vast space seemed to swallow him. He combed through every comer, but Colette was nowhere to be found.
With a photo in his hand, he approached passengers and staff, asking if they had seen her.”
No one could give him a clear answer.!!
The joy he had felt earlier began to dissipate, leaving only an icy emptiness behind. Magnus’s heart sank.8
Half frustration, half anger he kicked a nearby chair with all his might.
“According to the location Spencer sent, Colette’s phone stayed right here, unmoving. Why can’t you find her?“8
Using the Ferrero family name, he pressed the airport staff harder. No matter what it took, they had to find Colette,
The staff were clearly overwhelmed, but they continued to study the location, scouring through the crowd of passengers.A
At last, one of the staff members found a phone discarded by a homeless man who was huddled in the corner.
The man looked terrified, his hands trembling as he clutched Magnus’s leg, begging for mercy.
“I didn’t steal it! I found it in a trash can!” he cried. “I saw her get on the plane. I’m sure she left it behind before she boarded! I swear, I didn’t do anything wrong!”
A deafening “boom” echoed in Magnus’s mind, drowning out everything else. He yanked the homeless man by the collar, his voice shaking with a desperate question.
“Are you saying… she even lost her phone?”
The homeless man nodded furiously, and Magnus felt like his heart had been crushed, twisted, and tom apart R
all ties, not
He had known Colette was determined, but he hadn’t imagined she was resolute enough to get rid of her phone, cutting all leaving behind the slightest connection.
The hope that had burned bright just moments ago flickered out, leaving only a hollow emptiness. Magnus felt more desperate than when he had first heard about Colette leaving.X
After drinking heavily and wandering through the mass grave and cemetery all night Magnus sat slumped on the cold floor of the airport, a shadow of himself.”
He looked nothing like the pampered, responsible second son of the Ferrero family, whose face graced the news.
At that moment, Spencer’s voice broke through the haze, sharp and Impatient.
“Well? Did you find Colette?“2
“She’s gone too far. Even if she’s angry, there should be a limit. This much wasted time… it’s ridiculous…7
But before Spencer could finish, Magnus’s voice came through, empty and hollow, like a ghost of its former self. “Brother Colette really left.”
“The reason we could track her phone is because she threw it away before she left..
“Brother, what we did was it really too much?”
He stared down at Colette’s phone in his hand, feeling as if it weighed a ton.
Why he wondered, had Colette, who had always been kind and easy–going, refused the chance to make things right?
