Chapter 16

Having lost both her marriage to the Ferrero family and caused the company to spiral into chaos, Camille had become worthless in the eyes of her parents, Kyle and Gwen

The complaints against her from the company grew louder and sharper as if every word was a dagger

The moment the two brothers, Magnus and Spencer, had shown their frustration, Kyle and Gwen understood the gravity of the situation. The realization hit them hard, and it was clear they had lost everything because of Camille

In an effort to salvage what little remained, they severed all ties with her, their last attempt to cling to some semblance of dignity

Desperate, they tried to use their thin blood connection to reach Colette, hoping to coax her back into their fold. But their efforts were in voin. Not only did they fail to bring Colette back, but they couldn’t even find a way to reach her

Within weeks, the Moore family had descended into the same disarray that had plagued the Ferrero family

As for Colette, she remained blissfully unaware of the chaos unraveling at home. Over the years, she had saved enough money to free herself from the constraints of the past

She found solace in a toptier postpartum center abroad, carefully regaining her health. Once she was fully restored, she embraced a new chapter of her life, one of freedom and exploration

She traveled from country to country, never quite knowing where she would go next but savoning geach moment of her newfound independence

Having left behind both marriage and family, Colette had wandered through countless countries, her eyes opening wide to the vastness of the world

Looking back, it struck her as both laughable and naive that she had ever accepted a marriage that was nothing more than a merger

between two families

She had allowed herself to be trapped in the cold, empty villa of the Ferrero family, a prison of expectations and hollow promises.X

As she journeyed through new places, she encountered a multitude of people from all comers of the globe. None of them knew the painful secrets of Colette’s past

They had never seen the humiliating images that had filled the newspapers of her and her new husband’s brother tangled together on their wedding night. There was no one to judge her anymore.X

Gone were the days of living in fear, constantly looking over her shoulder in the country, terrified someone might recognize her or make her a target. She was free

Colette had always been a fast learner, and within months, she had mastered not just Spanish but several languages from different countries. Her ability to adapt had been her lifeline, a skill she honed in the face of adversity.X

Finally, after being strongly recommended by a fellow traveler, a bright university student, Colette decided to settle in Canada, embracing the promise of a fresh start

The student’s name was Lucian Rossi. His family wasn’t as wealthy as the Ferrero family; they were just a regular middleclass family. Yet, Lucian had managed to fulfill his dream of traveling abroad, working parttime every semester, and caring various scholarships along the way

After returning to Canada, Lucian became a tour guide and showed Colette around, introducing her to the beauty of the area

She rented a house near his university, immersing herself in experiences she had never encountered before

When boredom struck, Colette decided to venture into small businesses

Lucian supported her every step of the way, even dipping into his own savings, planning for future travels, to help her get started

For years, Colette had been entrenched in the business world, focused solely on the Moore family’s future. But now, her new business venture seemed to flow effortlessly

The Canadian market, eager for products with a touch of the U.S.’s charm, proved to be far more receptive than she had anticipated. Before long, Colette’s business was growing rapidly, her influence spreading as she carved out a name for herself in this new world Colette didn’t work as tirelessly as she once had for the Moore and Ferrero families

Once the company was on solid ground, only the most difficult and crucial problems demanded her attention

For the most part, she spent her time teaching foreign languages part time at a nearby school or tutoring familiar students in the area. This life suited her perfectly

Months slipped by like this Colette had convinced herself she would spend the rest of her life peacefully, content in the simplicity of it all But then, one ordinary day, Lucian casually asked her, Sis, did you live in the US, before

Colette’s brows furrowed at the unexpected question. A year had passed since she’d even thought of that place, and instead of nostalgia, all she felt was a sense of suffocation and dread

With a sense of caution, she asked, Why do you suddenly ask this?”

Lucian was focused on his homework and barely looked up I saw a news report. Do you know the Ferrero family in the US.? They’re putting cards in the packaging of every product, trying to find someone”
