My heart was cold, without a ripple.
He used to be my love. When he yelled or hit me, I would even consider if he was upset
from work issues.
But now… I see him as a madman, baring his fangs in front of me.
I calmly said, “You’re not signing the divorce papers because you still love me and want
me back?”
This hit his pride, and he immediately shouted, “Love you? What a joke! You just want
those divorce papers, right? I’ll sign them!”
With that, he pulled Sierra into the car.
He kept muttering, “Sierra, we don’t need her either. Let’s find Genevieve, okay?”
Sierra nodded happily, “Yes, Dad! I told you long ago, don’t bother with her. Let’s just live with Genevieve; it’ll be super happy!”
Watching them leave, I brushed off where Declan had touched me.
After a long day of interviews, I went home, took a shower, and planned to relax with at
show.
I saw that Declan had sent over the signed divorce papers and requested a local courier
to deliver them.
I didn’t want any of his money, house, car, or even the child.
I left with nothing.
The next day, I started my new job.
Colleagues knew I had been a stay–at–home wife and were curious, asking why I decided
to work now.

The boss helped me out, arranging a task with two other female colleagues to another city. We were to develop a local, serene lifestyle account, as the boss disagreed with others‘ ideas in the company.
The flight was at noon the next day.
Before leaving, I found out one of the colleagues was the boss’s son, Kieran Johnson.
Young, handsome, tall, he often hovered around me, grinning, “Nora, you’re so capable, why were you a stay–at–home wife?”
“If you had been building your career earlier, you’d be a big shot in finance by now! Plus, you’re a woman, amazing!”
He marveled.
I just smiled.

Had I not chosen love back then, I’d be a wealthy woman by now.

After arriving, we explored, tasted local food, and toured scenic spots. Inspiration gradually came to me.
We worked late nights together, finally finalizing the plan.
Time flew by.
Spending so much time together, Kieran often blushed when he saw me, acting shy despite being a big guy.
I remained indifferent.

After all, I’m eight years older than him. He’s just a young guy, feeling things after spending time with me, which I couldn’t entertain.

On the way back, Kieran asked, “Nora, how’s your relationship with your husband?”
I didn’t hide it: “Cooling–off period. In a few days, I can get the divorce certificate.”
“Won’t you regret it?”
Kieran looked at me eagerly, like an innocent puppy with hope.
I told him, “Nothing to regret. People must move forward, not dwell in the past.”

Kieran chuckled, “So, when will you start a new relationship?”
“I’m not.
I turned him down, “I’ll focus on work, and you should too.”

I sighed inwardly.

Since I left that day, Declan, who rarely posted on Snapchat, deliberately posted photos with Genevieve, adding flirty captions.
