Proud Declan panicked, quickly shaking his head.
“No, no, I let Genevieve move in just as a simple gesture of friendship.”
He stepped toward me, grabbing my hand. “Nora, let’s start over, okay? I even cooked a whole meal for you myself…
“After dinner, we can go to Altay. The snowy mountains are beautiful!”
“You once said you wanted to see the sunrise on the snowy mountains with the whole family, right? We can go tomorrow.”
He was so sincere.

For a moment, I was dazed.
This man I loved for nearly ten years, married for seven, I had often longed for the
scenarios he described, hoping we could reconcile.
Yet now, as our divorce cooling–off period was ending, he finally showed up.
I let out a sarcastic laugh.
His sincerity was starting to crack.
“I have nothing you want, so stop pretending.
I pushed his hand away.
Declan’s expression shifted multiple times, probably not expecting that I, who used to love him unconditionally with just a word, could be so cold today.
I could even see a hint of panic in his eyes.
“Nora, have you really… fallen for your boss’s son?”
Was he afraid?
I laughed unexpectedly. “What does that have to do with you?”
“I’m your husband, and I forbid you from liking him!”
Declan immediately reverted to his arrogant self.
At that moment, I found him utterly repulsive. “Please leave my home, or I’ll call the police!”
Sierra stood there awkwardly, her face turning sour. “Dad, let’s go. Genevieve is probably waiting for us. You’ve apologized, given her a chance, and she still doesn’t want to come back with us. Let her stay here!”
Sierra tugged at Declan’s hand, trying to pull him away.

In the past, when I still loved them, I might have been heartbroken, even questioning them with a trembling voice, asking what I meant to them.
But now, I just smiled faintly. “Yes, Genevieve is waiting for you. Go quickly.”
Sierra’s face grew more peculiar, red–eyed, lingering her gaze on me, then shaking Declan’s hand in frustration. “Dad, I don’t want to be with her!”
Declan held her, turning to me. “Nora, I won’t go get the divorce certificate with you. I’ve said it before, Genevieve and I are just friends.”
With that, he left with Sierra.
I disdainfully wiped my hands with a tissue, still feeling nauseated, and ended up going inside, discarding my clothes.
What bad luck!
I had planned to report to work after resting.
But Declan came with Sierra again that night.
In the dark, they stood outside.
“Nora, I sold the house. Sierra and I are homeless. Can we come in?”
They looked at me pitifully.
I stood in my nightgown, expressionless, about to close the door.
Declan held me tight.
“Nora, I was wrong. Can we go back to how we were?”
“I promise I won’t be harsh with you anymore. Let’s not divorce. I swear that after we remarry, I’ll love you, treat you well, and never get involved with other women again. Please give me a chance.”
I pushed him off me.
“Do you know?”
He looked at me with hopeful eyes, thinking I was going to say something about once loving him but being hurt too deeply.
