Chapter 26
At first, Donovan tried to push Giselle away out of spite.
But under her relentless and fervent kiss, he found himself tom between fury and lust. He grew aggressive, grabbing a fistful of her hair and forcing her head back. He kissed her with savage intensity, so fiercely she could barely breathe.
They stumbled from the living room into the bedroom, undressing each other in the heat of the moment, sinking into one another with practiced ease. Only through this kind of raw, punishing intimacy could he truly make her yield.
After what felt like a century, it was finally over. They lay there, tangled and bare under the covers, neither bothering to shower or get dressed.
Donovan didn’t even light a cigarette this time. He just lay on his back, one hand tucked behind his head. Closing his eyes, he let himself sink into this rare moment of silence and calm.
An indescribable sense of satisfaction bubbled up within Giselle. As she studied the sharp lines of his face, her heart skipped a beat. She snuggled into his embrace, his fingers absentmindedly tracing the firm lines of his chest as she breathed in that addictive scent of his.
After all the times they’d slept together, he’d always been the type to get dressed and leave right after. He never lingered in bed with her.
But now, even as she pressed close to him like this, he didn’t pull away–though he didn’t exactly respond either.
They were still lost in this quiet, intimate moment when a phone notification shattered the silence
Slipping out of his arms, Giselle reached for her phone on the nightstand and glanced at the screen. It was a message from Zachary.
“Are you still awake? I kinda miss you tonight.”
Just then, Donovan happened to glance over and caught sight of Zachary’s profile picture on the screen. He immediately snatched the phone from her hand. As soon as he read the message, his expression changed completely. The calmness he’d felt moments earlier was swept away–replaced by a storm. “What do you think I should reply?” she deliberately asked.
“Block him!”
Only then did he remember the real

reason he‘ come tonight. In mere seconds, he withdrew from the intimacy they’d just shared.
“Why should I listen to you?” Leaning back against the bed with a sneer, Giselle shot back, “There’s nothing going on between us right now, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be. You have no idea how much he cares about rne. Honestly, I’m a bit tom-

seeing Zachary or not,” she said coolly. “If you want me to stay away from him, fine. But under one condition.”
Staring him down, she said firmly, “Call off your engagement with Anne.”
Donovan fell silent, realizing she’d only gotten involved with Zachary to gain leverage over him. A bitter scoff escaped him as he shut his eyes, his contempt for her deepening
“Giselle, 1 don’t mind if you’re in this for a bit of fun. But the moment you drag my family into it and try to interfere with my personal affairs, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
The threat in his cold tone was unmistakable–he wasn’t bluffing.
Gizelle let out a cold snort. “So, you’re saying no?”
“Cut the crap.”
“Fine.” Her expression shifted. Jaw clenched, she suddenly kicked him off the bed.
Caught off guard, Donovan hit the floor with a loud thud. His head slammed against the edge of the nightstand, pain flaring instantly.
He couldn’t believe the state he was in. As the CEO of a conglomerate, no woman had ever dared treat him like this.
She tossed his clothes at him and said flatly, “I gave you a chance. But since our deal’s gone south, I won’t waste another second on you. Get the hell out.”
