A short video appeared on the central LED screen. In it, Anne was clearly seen in a foreign hotel bed, being kissed by a man while she embraced another person with a look of pleasure on her face.
Upon seeing this, Anne felt a shocking jolt. Her blood surged to her head, her face turned ashen, her heart raced uncontrollably, and she stood frozen in place,
unable to move.
The audience erupted in gasps of surprise, whispering in disbelief or snapping photos with their phones. It took the staff several moments to react and rush backstage to stop the video.
The clip didn’t show her fully exposed or engaging in explicit acts with the two foreigners in a scene that would shatter morals. It was just the initial interaction, but it was already enough to cause a massive uproar.
At that moment, the Kanes were stunned, panicked, and furious, struggling to comprehend what had just happened.
On the Holt family’s side, Renee almost fainted, and Tony fell back into his chair, completely shocked and unable to comprehend the situation.
Donovan, having seen the video himself, appeared visibly tense. However, he didn’t display any strong emotions, remaining motionless like a statue.

As Donovan walked away, disappointment washed over Anne, leaving her feeling exposed and vulnerable, as if she’d been publicly humiliated. Her mind went blank, and she struggled to keep her balance.
The Kanes were so enraged that they were speechless, shooting furious looks at Anne. They couldn’t fathom that this was the same eldest daughter of the Holt family they had always regarded as well–educated, with an impeccable personal life, skilled in playing the violin, and versed in various refined arts.
Anne stood frozen in place, her face ashen and her body stiff. She remained silent. She did not dare to lift her head, wishing she could disappear into the floor. At that moment, Renee felt utterly humiliated. In a burst of anger, she seized Anne’s arm and reprimanded her in front of the Kanes.
“Anne, what’s going on? Is this video a fake? Were you set up? Say something! We’re contacting the police immediately. They need to find out who’s responsible!” Anne nodded and shook her head in turn, too bewildered to utter a single word.
As Anne’s father, Tony was compelled to offer an apology to the Kanes. “Mrs. Kane Senior, Mr. Kane, Mrs. Kane, we sincerely apologize for the disgraceful incident today. Please don’t put too much pressure on Anne. I’ll find the person responsible for this prank, and we can reschedule the engagement…”
“That’s enough,” Dorothea interrupted, her expression stern. “Following such a scandal, this alliance is off. The Kane family cannot endure this humiliation. Everyone, please return home and settle down.”
Hearing this, Renee felt as if her world was collapsing. She tried to speak to Dorothea, but no clear words emerged.
Once Dorothea Kirsten voiced her opinion, the rest nodded in silent consensus. Naturally, nobody with common sense could stomach such a situation, particularly given that the Kane family, prominent figures in the pharmaceutical field, highly valued their public image and family honor.
Anne felt like she couldn’t breathe if she lingered any longer. She just wanted to leave. She wanted to flee as fast as she could, without uttering a word.
As she was about to hurry backstage, Anne’s keen eyes spotted Giselle in the corner, having watched the whole fiasco unfold. Giselle stood there with her arms crossed and leaned against the wall, locking eyes with Anne in a manner both calm and challenging, radiating the air of someone who had won.
