Chapter 58
With Donovan showered and doessed, aiselle decided to make her move, shedding her pride for a tender, purposeful hug from behind.
Reaching around to his front, she helped him fasten the buttons as she whispered, “Mr. Kane, as long as you fulfill my requests, I promise to serve you well and never go against your wishes again. Your word is final, and I’ll listen to you completely.”
Even as she spoke the honeyed words, she felt disgusted. But as long as it worked to get what she wanted, she didn’t mind playing the part.
Donovan, however, seemed to see right through her act. He gave her a cold glance but allowed her to finish buttoning his shirt.
When she was done, Giselle walked around to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck. In a gentle voice, she said, “I’m leaving now. But call me anytime you miss me. I’ll be here Easter than food delivery, just say the word.”
For a moment, Donovan caught the sweet look in her eyes. Strangely, it didn’t seem fake. After all the time they’d known each other, this was the first time she’d shown him such a gaze. Staring into her eyes, he was momentarily stunned.
Butiselle had already pulled away. She picked up her phone, slipped on her shoes, and headed for the door.
Just as she stepped outside, a thought struck her–she hadn’t bought a car yet. Getting a ride out of this wealthy, secluded neighborhood would be difficult. She turned back and called out, “Hey! I don’t have a ride. Since you’ve got so many cars in your garage, can I borrow one?”
Donovan shot her a look of contempt but didn’t argue. He called his steward, Benjamin Shaw, and instructed him to fetch a set of lurys. Giselle followed Benjamin to the massive garage at the back of the villa.
It looked more like a hury car showroom than a garage. At least a hundred high–end vehicles–sleek sports cars and powerful SUVs–were parked there, each costing hundreds of thousands at minimum.
Benjamin explained that most of the cars belonged to Donovan, though some were Zachary’s. They often shared the collection freely.
The variety overwhelmed Giselle. Many of the models were limited editions, and some brands she didn’t even recognize. She couldn’t help but wonder why anyone norded so many cars just sitting unused in a garage. The maintenance costs alone could fund multiple businesses,
Taking her time to choose, she avoided the flashiest and most expensive ones. In the end, she picked a modest but reliable Audi A8 L–the “cheapest among the impressive fleet. It was registered under Donovan’s name, had plates ready, and the interior was spotless.
Key in hand, she asked the housekeeper to load Eastin into the back seat. Then, with confidence, she drove away
Upon the balcony, Donovan silently watched as she left in his car, his gaze dark and unreadable. Pulling out his phone, he made a call
“Hello, Uncle Don Zachary’s voice came quicldy through the line.
Donovan just ordered solemnly, “come to my house now. I have something Important to tell you.
