Chapter 88
Donovan was injured, bleeding, and being held hostage by a vicious man with a blade.
The man had one arm locked tightly around his neck, the other hand gripping a sharp blade that was around 25 to 18 inches long, pressed against the artery in his neck. He was shouting hysterically at the crowd while a group of SWAT and a negotiator stood not far away. They were still trying to reason with him.
Giselle’s heart was in her throat, especially when she saw the blood streaming from Donovan’s wounded arm and leg. His clothes were soaked crimson with blood.
She quickly asked a nearby male employee and leamed the tough sequence of events. The man claimed Donovan had ruined him financially, driven him to the brink, and now he had come to the company to make a scene by taking a female employee hostage and stabbing her.
As the company CEO, Donovan had volunteered to exchange himself for the injured employee. The man agreed, but only on the condition that Donovan’s hands be bound first.
Therefore, Donovan allowed himself to be tied up before trading places with the female employee and being taken by the man. He had rescued her but placed himself in danger. He had been stabbed several times. Although none of the wounds were fatal, the blood loss was severe, and his clothes were soaked in blood. Despite being held hostage and his life in danger, he remained composed. He was pale from blood loss but mentally steady, quietly enduring the situation as the attacker held him captive.
The onlookers were extremely anxious. The SWAT team continued trying to de–escalate the situation, but the man clung to Donovan like a madman as he erupted into frenzied shouting from time to time.
Giselle didn’t care what the man was yelling or what the police were negotiating. All she knew was that Donovan’s life was hanging by a thread. He could die at the hands of someone who had nothing to lose if there was one wrong move.
few minutes later, she watched as the agitated man suddenly drove the blade into his leg. Blood spurred out from the wound, and her heart ached in agony. The police still hadn’t found a way to rescue him as time ticked by, and he was visibly weakening from blood loss. She couldn’t just stand there and scream like best of the crowd. Every second felt unbearable to her.

She forced herself to calm down and decided that she would save him herself.
She silently slipped away from the crowd and moved to the side, edging closer to the man from a different angle
The man was too focused on his standoff with the police to notice. After all this time, exhaustion had begun to set in, and he was no longer paying attention to other directions.
She observed him for a few minutes and noticed that the man lept his right arm tightly wrapped around Donovan’s neck. However, his left hand, where he held the blade, would occasionally gesture toward the crowd when he grew agitated. In those moments, the blade would leave Donovan’s vital area for a good ten seconds
The police were too far away to rush in and rescue him in time during that short period. Any sudden move would have provoked the man and pushed him to do something even more reddess.
Her heart was pounding. She tied up her hair, summoning all her courage and athletic skill board from extreme sports while waiting for the right moment. Finally, the man flew into another rage when one of the SWAT officers stepped a bit closer to him to talk. He pointed the blade at the officer and shouted wildly as he warned him not to come closer. His full attention was locked on the officer.
She seized the critical moment and lunged forward, charging in from behind at an angle. She immediately grabbed hold of the man’s blade–wielding arm.
The man was startled and reacted with fury. He kicked her violently and tried to struggle his arm free. However, she clung on unrelentingly like someone fighting for her life, refusing to let go of his am
