Chapter 91
“Why are you still here, bitch” Anne hissed under her breath.
Giselle crossed her arms before her chest and asked thetorically and calmly, “ol? I nearly died saving Donovan, and you’re just here to reap the reward now?
“Get out!” Anne snapped but still tried to keep her voice down. “Let me tell you something. I’m his legitimate fiancee. No one else besides me has the right to stay close to him or care for him. Don’t even think about doing anything in front of me!
Giselle sneered. “Anne, has there ever been a more pathetic free than you? The engagement isn’t even official yet, and you’re already clinging to his family like your life depends on it. He even slept with your sister. Don’t you feel disgusted? How are you still desperate to marry-”
“Shut up!” Anne’s chest heaved with anger after being hit where it hurt inost.
“That’s it.” Giselle didn’t want to argue with her in the hospital. She eventually said lightly, “Go ahead if you’re so eager to take care of him. No one’s stopping you! He’s basically a cripple right now. He can’t do anything on his own. Why would I cling to someone like that? You’d better take good care of him and help him recover quickly.”
She then added with a deliberate hint of provocation, “T’ll come to find him to have some fun once he’s fully recovered. So, he’s all yours for the next two weeks, little sister!”
“You bitch! You shameless tramp!” Anne was livid. She couldn’t hold back any longer. She then raised her hand to slap her.
However, Giselle swiftly lifted her leg and landed a solid lock to her stomach before her slap could land. The force was so strong that the trail and delicate Anne was knocked straight to the ground.
Giselle ruthlessly pressed her foot down on her head before she could even recover. She gritted her teeth and said, “Anne, you nearly had me lalled under that truck that day. Since the law can’t touch you, I guess I’ll retum the tavor through violence! You and your mother want me dead, huh? Bring it on then. Let’s see who wins in the end!”
With that, she delivered one final vicious kick, finally letting out all the fury she had bottled up for so long. She then calmly straightened her clothes and walked toward the exit as if nothing had happened.
Anne was too wracked with pain to get up. She couldn’t even curse. All she could do was lie on the ground and glare at her retreating figure with hatred.
She was indeed rather delicate compared to Gazelle, who was athletic and had proper training. She wouldn’t stand a chance and would only end up getting hit if it ever came down to a real fight.
She sat on the ground, pulled out her phone, and was about to call the police. However, she didn’t press the dial button in the end.
She eventually set aside her phone and chose not to involve the police as she knew she was in the wrong.
She sat on a bench outside the ward and tried to regain her composure before talding out a mirror to retouch her makeup until all traces of the scuffle had been erased. She then returned to the ward.
“Don” She pretended as if nothing had happened and said gently, “Do… Do you want some water? Are you hungry? Do you want me to get-”
“You should leave.” He lay against the headboard and didn’t even look at her. He said coldly, “I don’t need anyone to take care of me. I just want to be alone.”
Anne stood frozen by the bed and fixed her gaze intently on his icy face. She rarely had moments alone with him ever since their engagement fell apart. It was rare for her to be in the same room with him, like now.
She couldn’t let go of this opportunity.
After a long moment of silence, she mattered, “Don, understand how you must feel right now. I’m not trying to force myself to stay. I just want to show you something important before I go.”
With that, she pulled out a set of documents from her bag that she had prepared earlier.
