Chapter 97
Donovan suddenly realized how serious the situation was after two ininates of silence. He grabbed his car keys and rushed out of the bedroom.
Giselle couldn’t stay calm either after seeing him like that. She i
immediately ran after him.
They reached downstairs one after another and made their way to the parking garage. She opened the passenger door and climbed in as soon as he jumped into the driver’s seat. He started the car in a panic before she could fasten her seatbelt.
“Call him. Now! He ordered while driving the car.
She immediately pulled out her phone and dialed Zachary’s number.
Despite ringing for a long time, the call went unanswered.
She kept trying, but the call remained unanswered and was even cut off.
She switched to video calling him through WhatsApp, but there was still no response.
She felt the wright of the situation growing heavier as time passed, especially now that night had fallen. The thought of Zachary’s explosive outburst sent a chill down her spine.
**Zach, I’m sorry. I really am. I know you’re hurting right now, but please try to calm down, okay? I want to see you. Where are you now? Can you please answer my phone?” She quickly typed a message and sent it to him on WhatsApp.
Unsurprisingly, no reply came.
Donovan’s foot nearly floored the accelerator. He was pushing 120 on a road with an 80 mph speed limit, and a layer of cold sweat formed on his forehead. He also called Ethan while driving to ask if he had heard anything.
He guessed Zachary might have gone to his own residence, so he headed toward the route. He sped up to catch up to him and finally spotted a familiar Lamborghini up ahead after about 20 minutes of intense pursuit,
The traffic light ahead turned red just as he was closing the distance.
However, Donovan couldn’t wait any longer. He ran the red light and sped up before the light even turned green, chasing after Zachary’s car. He weaved through traffic and honked repeatedly. His nerves were on edge, and his mind was in turmoil.
He seemed to have noticed the car trailing him and stepped on the accelerator. At one point, his car even clipped another vehicle but didn’t stop. He just kept pushing forward like he was possessed.
Meanwhile, Giselle called Zachary repeatedly and sent him messages on WhatsApp, desperately trying to malo peace. Her mind was in complete chaos. She had never experienced such an overwhelming moment.
Zachary eventually veered out of the city and onto the highways on the outskirts. His speed surged past 150 mph. He drove like a madman without a clear destination.
Donovan frowned. A part of him wanted to give up the chase, but he knew his nephew was impulsive and emotional. He couldn’t afford to take the risk. He had to catch up to him and put an end to this tonight.
However, a massive logistics truck approached from the right just as Zachary’s Lamborghini flew past a fork in the road.
He was driving far too fast, and his mind was clouded with emotion, so he was unable to react in time. The heavy truck couldn’t brake quickly enough, either. All that followed was a sharp born blate before a violent, earth–shattering crash
Zachary and his car flung more than 32.8 feet through the air. The vehicle hit the ground with a deafening thud before flipping once and landing upside down.
Donovan watched as the scede unfolded before him and slammed on the brakes. His mind went blank, and he couldn’t think straight.
