But when danger loomed, a person’s potential could stretch beyond reason. Daisy ran with relentless speed and a while, no one could even come close.
It wasn’t until they reached the cliff’s edge that Heather, breathless and frustrated, gritted her teeth and sneered, “Sister, below is an untamed wilderness, untouched and full of wild beasts. If you step into it, you’ll never make it
out.”
Daisy, however, didn’t even flinch. Without a second thought, she leaped into the unknown.
Heather’s heart stopped. She hadn’t expected Daisy to actually jump and her pupils contracted in shock.
She wasn’t lying. The forest below was a lethal maze of poisonous creatures and savage wildlife. An expedition team had once ventured in and when they were found, all that remained were dismembered bodies scattered like
warnings
Entering that forest meant certain death.
A slow smile spread across Heather’s face. Though things hadn’t gone as planned, she was satisfied with this
turn of events
“Leave a few men here. Don’t let her return,” she ordered, cold and final.
With that, Heather descended the mountain, keeping Daisy’s escape a secret for now, her mind already plotting
the next steps.
Meanwhile, everyone else was consumed by the wedding preparations, blissfully unaware of the storm brewing.

Daisy’s parents, holding the wedding invitations in their hands, exchanged worried glances.
“Desmond, are you sure about this? Daisy’s face, how can she possibly be your bride?”
They hesitated, then added softly, “And Heather.. she’s loved you for so long. If you marry Daisy, it will break her
heart.”
Desmond’s expression softened, his voice steady. “I’ve known Daisy my whole life. There’s no question of her worth. Even if her face is scarred, my love for her remains unchanged.”
He paused, adjusting his gold–rimmed glasses with a deliberate, almost tender gesture. “Heather and I, I’ve always considered her a sister. There’s no romance there.”
His eyes were filled with unwavering affection as he continued, “Heather’s condition has stabilized. It’s time for Daisy and I to have our wedding. We can’t keep delaying.”
Daisy’s parents exchanged a silent, knowing glance but said nothing more. Their eyes turned to Heather, filled with silent sympathy.
Heather bit her lip, her gaze hardening. No matter how much she tried, Desmond’s heart was like stone,
unmoved, unyielding and cold.
But Heather knew all too well that if she continued to wield depression and thoughts of suicide as a weapon to
manipulate him, Desmond would eventually lose his patience. She swallowed her resentment, forcing a smile that
didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I understand. My love for Desmond has always been one–sided.”
She paused, the words thick in her throat. “I’m learning to let go. I wish Desmond and Sister a lifetime of happiness.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, trailing down her cheeks as she spoke. Desmond hesitated, his gaze lingering on her, but he didn’t move closer. He knew, deep down, that he couldn’t give her any more hope.
With a final, steady breath, he turned and left.
The moment he was gone, Daisy’s mother rushed forward, her hands gentle as she wiped Heather’s tears. “Don’t
cry, Heather. You deserve someone better than Desmond,” she whispered
After a brief pause, she added, “I’ll give you Daisy’s dowry”
As though that weren’t enough, she made a bold decision, her eyes soft with resolve. “I’ll also transfer my company shares to you.”
It was an unexpected stroke of fortune.
Heather exchanged a brief, knowing glance with Samuel, pretending to hesitate before finally relenting, a smile tugging at her lips.
Meanwhile, Desmond returned home and wasted no time in sending out the wedding invitations. In the past, he had kept things small and quiet, mindful of Heather’s feelings, with only close family members aware of the plans.
But despite all the secrecy, the wedding had never come to fruition because of Heather.
Desmond couldn’t shake the feeling that he owed Daisy. So, this time, he spared no expense. He chartered an entire cruise ship and invited a multitude of guests, determined to make this wedding different.
