“I had thought, if you didn’t die, I’d keep caring for you. If you died, I’d bury you properly. But you-” Mark’s voice was cold, “You didn’t die, and now you want my life.”
“Now,” he sneered, “the retribution is here.”
Mark held up a pair of silver handcuffs.
“Since I already have heirs, you don’t need to live.”
Mark moved toward me with the cuffs, but I looked up, meeting his eyes.
For the first time, I saw fear in them–my eyes had already transformed into golden wolf eyes.
He was close now, the handcuffs in his hand, but I cradled Anna’s body and said,
