Mark froze, his mind clearly struggling to process what was happening.
Alpha Lucas, Jenny, and the enforcers smashed through the door.
The enforcers surrounded Mark, one of them pointing directly at him. “You’re under suspicion of murder. Come with us!”
Mark glanced between me and the enforcers before bursting into laughter.
“Zara, well done! I thought you cared about this worthless thing, but in the end, you’re just using Anna to trap me.
“You had this all planned, didn’t you?”
Without warning, Mark pulled a silver knife from his jacket and lunged toward me.
“If that’s the case,” he sneered, “you’re not leaving here alive. I’ll drag you down with me if I have to die!”

Just then, Sarah–who had been out on bail due to her pregnancy–appeared at the door. She had secretly followed us, thinking Mark was planning to run away with me. Her voice cracked with fury.
“Mark! How dare you betray me!”
Sarah rushed in like a madwoman, shoving me aside to face Mark. But before she could get close, Mark stabbed her in the abdomen. Her eyes widened in shock, staring at him.

Mark snapped back to reality, kicking Sarah away with such force that she crashed to the floor.
“Are you crazy?”
Sarah’s strike was deadly accurate. Mark bled out quickly, his frantic cries filling the air. “Call an ambulance! Help me!”
Bleeding heavily, Mark’s anger quickly turned to terror. He collapsed into a spreading pool of his own blood, his trembling hand reaching toward me, his voice breaking.

In the photo, Anna still smiled, sweet and innocent, as if she were responding to Jenny.

The moonlight outside filtered through the window, gently caressing Anna’s photo, as if the Moon Goddess herself were responding, reassuring us that everything would be okay.
