Chapter 6
I once believed he would never kneel again.
But when I saw Alpha Emery next, he was kneeling beside the children’s bed, hands trembling, his forehead pressed to Luna’s small paw.

The healing cave was silent, save for the soft pulse of the ritual stone’s silver light.
Luna and Liam remained unconscious. Traces of the sleep powder still lingered in their systems, quietly eating away at their senses. Even after more than ten days, they had yet to awaken.
They curled up like tiny beasts on
vine–wrapped bedding, their breath shallow, their fur dim.
I stood at the entrance, watching from afar.
Alpha Emery’s voice was barely above a whisper, a tide held back for too long.
“I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
“I just wanted her to be quiet… I just wanted them to rest.”
He touched Liam’s paw lightly, murmuring, “I told her to give them the tea. I thought it would help. But she trusted me–too much.”

“She thought everything I gave her was love.”
I listened, my heartbeat slow and steady. I had once thought the same–thought he was the branch that had saved me from drowning.
But that branch had long since grown thorns, and I was bleeding all over.
“Omega Caroline,” he turned toward me, and I barely recognized the exhaustion on his face.
“Will they wake up?”
I didn’t answer. I simply stepped forward and tucked the blanket tighter around Luna.
“You didn’t come to see them,” I said quietly. “You came to see me.”
His lips pressed into a line. “I know you hate me”

“But even if you hate me, one thing hasn’t changed.” He stepped closer, eyes burning. “I still care about you. I still want you.”
“You don’t want me.” I gently brushed Liam’s tail, my voice calm. “You want what I once represented–your possession.”
He paused. Then he said what I expected.
“I can make the entire Firefang tribe bow to you.”
“You just have to come back to me.”
He raised his hand, placing it carefully on my shoulder, trying once again to wrap me in that same, suffocating tenderness.
I didn’t move.
“We can start over,” he said. “Start from that night at the altar, when you first became my

I looked into his eyes–those stormy gray irises that once held all my faith. Now, they were full of nothing but desperation and loss.
“Alpha Emery.” I said his name softly.
He looked relieved. “Yes?”
I turned my gaze toward the blood moon rising beyond the cave’s mouth.
“You never loved me.”
He froze.
I smiled–gently, sadly, with a kind of peace I hadn’t felt in years.
“You loved taming me. You loved showing the world how obedient I was when I knelt before you.”

I pushed his hand away and walked past him.
Behind me, his voice cracked with urgency. “Omega Caroline, don’t walk away!”
I didn’t stop.
Before the Moon Temple, the Ring Gate slowly opened.
It was an ancient trial only invoked when oaths were broken and bonds corrupted.
I stood before it, Lucian’s moon–sealed decree in my hand. Behind me, the scroll signed by anonymous Omega supporters burned like a spark in the wind.
“Are you ready?” Lucian stood beside me, eyes calm but full of unwavering protection.
I nodded.

“After this,” he said, “there is no turning back.”
“I have nothing left to turn back to,” I replied.
He placed a firm hand on my shoulder–his voice low but resolute.
“Whatever happens, I will stand behind you,” he said, locking his eyes with mine. “You are not alone in this.”
My throat tightened, but I said nothing–only nodded with everything I had.
The great doors creaked open, releasing a flood of silver light.
I stepped forward into the light–bound sigils.
A furious voice echoed behind me.
“Omega Caroline–you’ll regret this!”
It was Alpha Emery.

I turned, seeing him lunging forward like a beast unchained, only to be slammed back by the barrier. His eyes were wild–anger, desperation, disbelief… and fear.
Lucian stepped in front of me, his tone as cold as steel. “She is no longer yours to command.”
For the first time, I saw fear in Alpha Emery- not fear that I’d die.
But fear that I would live on without him.
I looked into his eyes and spoke softly, “You should have known… control isn’t love.”
The Moon Ring doors closed behind me with a final whisper.
And the wind… fell silent.
I stepped into divine judgment–not to prove my innocence, but to tell the world:

I stepped into divine judgment–not to prove my innocence, but to tell the world:
The Omega Caroline who once knelt, obeyed, and swallowed pain…
She died in that fire.
The woman walking into the light now will tear open the truth-
Even if it burns her down with it.
