Chapter 21
Looking away, Janelle couldn’t help but clear her throat before secretly giving Murphy a look to make him stop.
Oh, gosh! She knew that Tillany could lie with a straight face, but announcing that Benedict was her father?
Even she was having trouble swallowing that one. It was just too far–fetched!
Noticing her exaggerated winks from the corner of his eye, Murphy turned to face her and solemnly declared, “Don’t you worry, Mommy! No matter what happens, Daddy and are here for you
“Even if I’m still too small and weak to protect you, Daddy will always be your shield no one can bully you!”
Benedict might always look stern, rarely talk, and have a terrible temper, but Murphy had to admit, as much as he couldn’t stand him deep down, Benedict was undeniably the most impressive person he’d ever met.
Everyone had to show respect to him, and there were no exceptions.
With full confidence, Murphy glanced at Adrian with disdain and stared coldly, “My daddy holds immense power, and everyone fears him. He’s leagues above you in every aspect. You, a scum of society, can’t even compare!”
The onlookers were now holding their heads and sighing.
Murphy sure knew how to make stuff up. Benedict was not just any important person. If he were to ever hear of this, there might not be a trace left of the mother–son duo in the entire city!
Adrian nearly burst out laughing. “I can’t believe you would even dare lie about that. Mr. Benedict Fletcher is your father? Hah! Should we just take your word for it? Then, do you know who I am?”
Murphy answered bluntly, “Nope.”
He had never met this delusional idiot who was obsessed with Janelle before.
Wiping away the tears from laughing too hard, Adrian straightened up with a smug look, proudly declaring, “You don’t even know me, and yet you claim to be his son? How ridiculous!
“Then, let me tell you–1 am Mr. Benedict Fletcher’s biological nephew, Adrian Fletcher! So what now, brat? Your lie has been exposed. If you a part of the Fletcher family, then how could you not recognize me?“.
If you were really
As soon as he said this, the crowd started adding in agreement. Adrian was often seen in public, and most of them recognized him.
Moreover, Adrian had a point. If Murphy really was Benedict’s son, how could he not even recognize his own family? Clearly, he had to be lying. Yet, despite all the ridicule and skeptical stares, Murphy still stood tall, expressionless and calm. “Yup. I don’t lanow you.”
He’d been raised under strict discipline, and Benedict rarely allowed him to meet outsiders. The only people he had met growing up were a few highly respected elders from the Fletcher family, As for Adrian, he’d never even heard of him.
Looking at Murphy’s indifferent face, Adrian grinned even wider, “Keep acting, you little bastard. Go on! Keep it up! You don’t even know who I am, you dare call yourself Benedict’s son? What now, huh? Talked yourself into a corner, didn’t you?”
and
Murphy couldn’t care less about whether Adrian believed him. He took a few steps forward clapped his hands lazily, and said in a cold voice, “I’m just stating facts, I don’t need to prove anything. Since I’m hungry now, bring out the food”
The moment he said that, from the service entrance emerged a line of impeccably dressed staff, each carrying an exquisite dish
They walked past Janelle one after another, proceeding in an orderly line toward the elevator and heading upstairs to the banquet hall for VIPS.
The procession was so neat and grand that it looked like they were preparing a feast for a king-
Some observant hotel stall came over and respectfully invited the dumbfounded Janelle upstairs,
It was only then that the crowd snapped out of it. The entire place erupted into gasps. They exchanged looks with one another in utter d wasn’t the end of the shock
Under their stunned gazes, a familiar Ligure slowly walked into view. It was Boger, the Fletcher family’s best Michilin–star chef!
