Chapter 23
A layer of cold sweat drenched Adrian’s forehead, and he could barely maintain his composure.
Before he could make sense of the situation, he heard Murphy instructing, “Guards, drag this man out. From now on, he is forbidden to set foot in this hotel, not even a single step!”
d Adrian
With that, a pair of security guards stormed over, their movements forceful as they seized a
“Get your hands off me! What right do you two have to kick me out? I’m Mr. Fletcher’s nephew. Are you sure you want to play this game? You two might not keep your jobs if I decide to tell Mr. Fletcher about this!
Adrian had never felt so humiliated before, so his resistance was fierce.
Hearing his words, the bodyguards hesitated briefly before casting an inquiring look at the cold–looking boy.
The nonchalant Murphy replied, “Out he goes.”
Yes, Mr. Murphy!” The bodyguards no longer hesitated, tossing Adrian out of the hotel like a trash bag.
One was the Fletcher family’s pampered heir, while the other was a nephew whom not even Benedict cared for. The decision was easy.
Adrian’s howls echoed without end, but only then did Murphy calmly withdraw his gaze and turn to head upstairs to the banquet hall,
The banquet hall was resplendent in gold and glittering light. Rich champagne fabric covered the luxurious tables, while the cello’s soft, elegant sound filled the air.
Dozens of top–tier dishes—each one smelling better than the last–were brought out one by one and carefully laid out on the tables, like something straight out of a royal feast.
Roger couldn’t suppress his excitement as he respectfully introduced the dishes to Janelle. “Mrs. Fletcher, this is Glassbone Sea Bass–gently simmered in a masterfully crafted broth made from nine kinds of bone stock.
The result is a delicate dish, glistening and almost gem–like in clarity. Next u
up, we have Garden Delight, a true showstopper…..”
↑ Tiffany. Sho
As Roger went on and on with his elaborate introductions, Janelle could only respond with a faint smile, her eyes scanning the crowd for ” hard to figure out what was going on.
After all, someone like Roger wasn’t the kind of chef one could hire with money. Yet, there he was, standing respectfully at her side, showering her with compliments, and walking her through each dish.
It sounded like he was convinced she was Benedict’s wife, too. Now that was definitely strange
Que Tiffany returned, Janelle would get to the bottom of this no matter what.
“Mommy, I’m back!”
Hearing the child’s voice, Janelle, Roger, and the others turned their heads in unison.
Seeing Murphy, the young heir, Roger knowingly lowered his head and dismisted himself. “I’ll leave you to enjoy it. Mrs. Fletcher. Should you require anything at all, simply ring, and I’ll be at your service.”
“I” Janelio pursed her lips, perplexed
Any ordinary person would’ve been stunned to receive such a warm and welcoming reception from the world–renowned Michilin chef
Knowing it wasn’t a place for a private talk, she waited for the servers to disperse before confronting Murphy. “Tell me. What’s going on here? How do you know Roger Schmitt?”
Murphy fell silent for a second, then lowered his gaze and said, “I… knew him through special circumstances.”
He had wanted to come clean to Janelle, but after some contemplation, he realized a meal wouldn’t be enough to mend a broken relationship Furthermore, he hadn’t found our why Janelle and Benedict had a falling out
Instead of telling her the truth now, it was wiser to gather more information and reveal everything to her all at once when the time came.
That way, when she learned how much Benedict had done for her, she would be truly shocked and touched.
Murphy’s vague response didn’t buy him a way out from Janelle’s interrogation
en you into this? Or were
She crouched before him, her tone hardening with concern. “Don’t be afraid, and just tell Mommy the truth. Did someone threaten you told to do this?”
Alter all, the person hosting her was Roger, Benedict’s p private chef. So, it wouldn’t be out of the question that the latter had deliberately orchestrated all
of this to warn her.
If that were the case, what would be his goal? Surely, he wasn’t trying to tell her that he had known about Tuttary, her Achilles heef!
The more Janelle indulged in that theory, the more she became anxious. If that was the truth, and he persisted with such tactics, he night actully threaten her with her children’s safety!
Murphy felt
as though a navy weight of disappointment pressed down on his heart upon hearing lanelle’s words. I seemed her and Benedict s
relationship was far worse than he had imagined.
Everybody know Ruger worland for femedies. Instead of assuming this was Benedier’s deliberate attempt to give her a pleasant surprise, she indulged in the conspiracy that he was plotting something sinister..
Murphy sighed quietly, his excitement taling into disappointment. For now, he decided not to bring up Benedict before Janelle
As expected, feelings, especially those that were conflicted, required being handled carefully. Reconciliation took time, just as many other great endors in this world dist.
Mt that thought, Marplay turned to Janelle with a helpless look. “Mommy, nobody threatened me into doing this. I just… asked a simple favor from someone with good connections. I didn’t want you to be loalted down upon.”
Snow with good connections?
Janelle pondered over his words. Could Tiffany have sought out one of her apprentices and somehow used their connections to hire Roger? Undeniably, Janelle had achieved impressive results in many fields over the years, with a network that spanned the globe.
Titiany had been with her all these years. If this were the case, everything would make sense.
a good kid. You’re even
After convincing herself, she let out a sigh of relief. Then, she crouched down and pulled Murphy into a hug. “Oh, you’re such a thinking of ways to protect me alreach. ”
Even if he hadn’t gone to such lengths, she wouldn’t have been at a disadvantage coming to this meeting today. Still, she was truly touched by his thoughtfulness,
“From tons on, FL protect you, Mommy.” Murphy nestled against Janelle’s arms, a mix of nervousness and warmth sprouting inside him. so, that was how Janelle’s embrace felt–sotter, gentler, and warmer than Benedict’s.
His little hand clutched the hem of her shirt. A glint of determination flashed across his eyes as though he had made up his mind.
Humans were always greedy. Having felt her warmth, he couldn’t bear the thought of losing it now. Instead, he wanted to live the life chuld, with both patents by his side,
Therefore, the mission to bring lanelle and Benedict back together couldn’t be more urgent!
