Chapter305
I didn’t expect that Bessie would act so quickly. As soon as Xander returned to Minston, she went to find someone to complain!
Taking a deep breath, she temporarily suppressed the emotions in her eyes and walked in, looking seriously and intently at the person in front of her. Including their past life, they had not seen each other for many, many
years.
“…Cousin.” She called out this title that she hadn’t used in many years.
Xander’s cold and rebellious eyes showed no warmth at all. “Don’t call me that; I don’t deserve to be addressed as ‘cousin‘ by Ms. Greene.”
Hearing these cold words, Ophelia felt a pang in her heart.
She knew that over the years she had done too many foolish things, which had already left the Whitaker family utterly disappointed in her. Repairing this relationship was not an easy task.
However, at that moment, facing Xander’s attitude, I couldn’t help but feel
a bit sad.
She suppressed the surging emotions and sat down, “Why did that cousin call me here?”
“It was about Bessie.” When he mentioned Bessie, his tone actually. warmed a bit, but it quickly turned cold again. “I don’t care how you used to bully Bessie; I hope that kind of thing never happens again. Besides, now, apologize to Bessie!”
Ophelia thought it was somewhat ridiculous. She had bullied Bessie? Apologize to Bessie?
“Ah!”
“Cousin. I didn’t know what she said to you, but I never bullied her, nor would I apologize to her!”
“Ophelia!” Xander seemed a bit busy. His phone rang, and without even looking at it, he hung up the call. He said impatiently, “I didn’t want to hear your excuses. With Bessie’s personality, if you weren’t bullying her, could it be that she was bullying you?”
Bessie timely showed a pitiful and weak appearance.
Ophelia was almost infuriated!
As she recalled her little cousin who had protected her when they were children, she looked at Xander, who was cold and disdainful towards her, and felt an overwhelming sense of suffocation in her heart.
“I couldn’t possibly apologize to her!” She stubbornly held her head high. “I didn’t do anything that required an apology. If anyone should apologize, it would only be her!”
The cold gaze fell on Bessie, and her little face turned pale. She clutched Xander’s clothes and shrank towards him in fear, as if Ophelia had done something very terrible to her.
Xander felt heartbroken, but more than that, he was filled with anger. He soothingly grabbed Bessie’s hand and warned in a deep voice, “Ophelia! What are you doing? Do you still want to threaten her in front of me?”
Just as he was about to say something else, his phone rang again; it was his agent calling.
Xander picked up his phone, stood up, and impatiently said, “You better have realized your mistake by the time I get back!”
Then he slightly lowered his voice and said, “Bessie, I’m going to take a
phone call. I’ll be back soon, so don’t be afraid.”
Bessie looked at him with her vulnerable, attachment–filled eyes and said, “Okay, then Xander, you must come back quickly…”
After speaking, he reluctantly released his hand.
Xander took long strides and left the private room.
The vulnerability on Bessie’s face immediately disappeared.
She raised a triumphant smile and asked, “Ophelia, how did you feel
inside?”
Ophelia leaned back in her chair, looking at her coldly, not at all surprised by her change.
Bessie felt extremely relieved, thinking she had reached a dead end, but Xander’s sudden return turned the situation around for her!
