Chapter313
She leaned against him, and when she looked up, she caught a glimpse of the faintly visible muscle lines in his collar, her eyes momentarily
betraying her as they widened.
As soon as she moved, Winford noticed and asked, “Awake?”
Ophelia nodded sleepily, then glanced at the time, and the next moment she was so shocked that she sat up straight.
“How was it already ten o’clock?!”
She instinctively wanted to run under the bed, but before her feet could touch the ground, an arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her back.
“I helped you ask for leave, so you didn’t have to go to school today.”
Ophelia sighed with relief, suddenly feeling weak and softly collapsing into his arms. But right after that, she couldn’t help but lift her head slightly, wanting to say something but hesitating, and finally whispered, “Honey, could you… hold back a little next time?”
Winford’s gaze fell on the book, his expression unchanged, as if he hadn’t heard clearly, “What?”
Ophelia blushed and said, “I was wondering if you could… next time.”
“Not possible,” Mr. Winford answered succinctly.
Ophelia choked and widened her eyes, staring at him.
Winford put down the book and focused all his attention on her. Seeing her pouting and feeling helpless against him, a trace of amusement
flickered in his dark eyes as he ran his hand through her hair.
“If Lia was feeling weak. I would have someone bring her some nourishment. But perhaps it wouldn’t be necessary to go through all that trouble, Grandma was always thinking about it, so I could just have her send some nourishing soup over.”
…I didn’t want it!!”
Ophelia didn’t think twice.
If she really did that, would she still care about her face?!
While she was feeling embarrassed and annoyed with Winford, a servant suddenly knocked on the door from outside and cautiously said, “Madam, Ms. Whitaker has arrived!”
Did Nora come?
Ophelia suddenly woke up and rolled out of bed.
This time, Winford did not stop her. Ophelia quickly tidied up and then went downstairs.
“Cousin!” Lenora came over, glanced upstairs, and with a hint of guilt in her innocent eyes, asked, “Were you working just now? Did I interrupt you?”
Ophelia blushed and said, “Ahem, it’s nothing, not a big deal…”
Lenora then breathed a sigh of relief.
Lenora came over, but it was nothing important; it was just that as long as the matter of Xander getting engaged to Bessie remained unresolved, she couldn’t find peace.
If someone like Bessie really became her sister–in–law, her brother would
be finished!
Ophelia picked up her phone and sent two messages. She squinted her eyes and comforted herself, saying, “Don’t worry, Bessie won’t be bouncing around until tomorrow.”
Hearing her say that. Lenora’s eyes lit up. “Really? Cousin, what did you do yesterday?”
Ophelia mysteriously winked at her and shook her finger, saying, “It’s a secret, but you’ll find out soon.”
She glanced at the time and said, “Let’s go out shopping.”
Lenora. “Oh, good!”
While packing up, Winford came down from upstairs.
Lenora immediately stood up obediently, “Cousin–in–law!”
“Um.” Winford put his hands in his pockets and nodded.
He was dressed casually, but it could not conceal the sharp and powerful aura he exuded. His features were deep and captivating, handsome and charming.
As soon as Ophelia saw him, her face couldn’t help but turn red.
“I went out shopping with Nora!”
After saying that, he grabbed Lenora and wanted to run away.
As she brushed past, she was suddenly grabbed by the wrist.
She shivered and asked, “What are you doing-”
