Chapter 11 – Turning The Tables
ROSE
“Are you sure about that, Miss?” the receptionist asked Jenna.
Jenna nodded and extended her card, “If
Rose wants to buy anything then I suggest she also pay double the amount.”
I sighed and nodded at the receptionist,
“It’s alright.”
Jenna laughed, “That’s what I thought. Broke ass loser!“.
The receptionist took Jenna’s credit card and it was swiped. She stood there, her smug smile widening as she watched the total rack up on the screen. I didn’t flinch, though

inside, I couldn’t shake the disbelief that she was willing to pay double for clothes she clearly didn’t want.
“There,” she said triumphantly, snatching the receipt and waving it like a trophy. “I hope you enjoy watching someone else wear what you can’t afford, Rose.”
I kept my face neutral, refusing to let her see that her petty antics were getting to me. But before she could bask in her supposed victory, my phone buzzed loudly, cutting through the tension.
The chime echoed in the space, followed by the distinct voice of my banking app
announcing, “Two million dollars has been transferred to your account.
“What?” Jenna froze, her smirk faltering as

she stared down at her phone. Her fingers
flew across the screen as she checked her balance. Her eyes widened in shock.
“This… this can’t be right!” she
stammered. “Where did my money go? Why did my money go to her?”
I frowned, glancing at my phone. “What’s going on?”
Jenna’s gaze snapped to me, sharp and accusing. “Why did you get my money?”
“Excuse me?” I said, startled.
“Look!” she screeched, holding up her phone. “The notification says the money went to you! What the hell, Rose?”
Before I could respond, the receptionist, who had been silently observing the scene, cleared

her throat. She looked between us with a calm but knowing expression.
“Miss,” the receptionist began, addressing Jenna, “I think there’s been a
misunderstanding.”
“Damn right there has,” Jenna snapped. “I want my money back. Now.”
The receptionist‘ s lips twitched, as if holding back a smile. “There won’t be any refunds, I’m afraid. The transaction was legitimate.”
“What are you talking about?” Jenna hissed, her voice rising.
The receptionist turned to me with a warm smile, as if I was an old friend. “Mrs. Biden, welcome. I was informed this morning that Regal Plaza has been transferred to you as a

gift from your husband, Mr. Xander Biden. That includes all sales and earnings. Congratulations on your new ownership.”
For a moment, I just stood there, stunned.
“I’m sorry, what?”
Jenna laughed harshly, cutting through my confusion. “Oh, that‘ s rich. Xander Biden gave you this mall? Please, you can’t be serious. A man like him wouldn’t waste his
time on someone like her.”
The receptionist‘ s smile didn’t waver. “I assure you, Miss, there is no mistake. Mr. Biden finalized the transfer this morning. Mrs. Biden is now the sole owner of Regal Plaza.”
Jenna’s laughter faltered, replaced by a glint of rage in her eyes. “This is ridiculous,” she

spat. “Rose left Jacob only to become a… a whore! That’s the only explanation. You must‘ ve seduced Xander to get all this.”
Her words stung, sharp and venomous, but I refused to let her see me falter. “Careful, Jenna,” I said, my voice steady. “Throwing insults around won’t change the facts
“Facts?” she scoffed, stepping closer. “The fact is you‘ re nothing without Jacob. You can play this little game, but everyone knows you’re just a washed–up, desperate woman clinging to scraps.”
My heart raced, but I held my ground. “If I’m so insignificant, why are you so bothered by me?”
Jenna’s face flushed red, her anger bubbling over. “I’m not bothered by you! You‘ re a

joke, Rose. And soon, Xander will see that too.”
The receptionist interjected politely, “Miss, I suggest you leave if you‘ re unable to conduct yourself appropriately.”
Jenna shot the receptionist a withering glare before turning back to me. “This isn‘ t over, Rose,” she hissed, pointing a manicured finger in my face. “You‘ ll regret crossing me.”
I tilted my head, meeting her glare with calm defiance. “Good luck with that.”
Jenna stormed off, her heels clicking furiously against the polished floor. I exhaled slowly, the tension in my chest finally easing.
“Thank you,” I said to the receptionist, who nodded with a professional smile.

“It’s my pleasure, Mrs. Biden,” she replied. “If there’s anything you need as the new owner, don‘ t hesitate to ask.”
I managed a smile, though my mind was still reeling. Owner? Xander had done a lot of surprising things lately, but this was beyond anything I could‘ ve imagined.
As I gathered my bags to leave, I spotted Jenna returning with Jacob.
“There she is, Jacob. She bullied me and stole my money!” Jenna said.
