Chapter 15 – The Meeting
ROSE
I stood in front of the mirror, my reflection staring back at me, dressed in a dazzling outfit that made me feel both powerful and confident.
The sleek, tailored dress clung perfectly to my curves, and the heels added an extra inch of height. I had to admit, I was looking good today. It was the kind of outfit that demanded attention, and I was more than ready to command it.
Xander had promised to pick me up at eight, and true to his word, he pulled up in front of my house right on time. I met him at the door with a smile, my heart skipping a beat as his

eyes lingered on me for a moment longer than usual.
“You look stunning,” he said, his voice a little softer than usual. I felt a warm rush of pride at the compliment.
“Thanks,” I replied with a grin. “Let’s go make some things happen.”
As we made our way to the car, I couldn’t shake the feeling that today was going to be interesting. Jacob had no idea what he was walking into. I knew the meeting with my father‘ s company was going to be a game changer, but the idea of facing Jacob and Jenna again after everything that had happened? That was going to be the real highlight.
The drive was smooth, and Xander‘ s

presence beside me was reassuring. We arrived just in time to see Jacob and Jenna walking toward the entrance, their confident strides only reinforcing their assumption that they had everything in the bag.
Jacob scoffed when he saw us, his expression immediately shifting into something cold and dismissive. “Xander, here to grovel for a partnership?” His tone was dripping with
sarcasm.
I raised an eyebrow, not backing down. “I don’t think he’s here to grovel, Jacob. I think he’s here.to show you what real business looks like.”
Xander stood tall beside me, calm and composed. “I’m here to discuss a partnership, just like you,” he replied, his

voice smooth. But it was clear he was already
sizing up Jacob, his eyes calculating and
sharp.
Jenna, always ready to stir the pot, grinned at me with that smug look of hers. “Forget about it, Rose,” she said, her tone dripping with satisfaction. “Jacob and I already secured the deal. You‘ re a little late to the party.”
She flashed her ring in my face, and I couldn’t help but notice the smugness behind her smile. I didn’t care that they had gotten married, they deserved each other.
I turned to Jacob, my eyes locking with his, and gave him a sweet, almost teasing smile. “Well, congrats, Jacob. You‘ re living your truth now, aren’t you? Marrying Jenna, of all

people.”
Jacob’s discomfort was palpable. He shifted
on his feet, avoiding my gaze as I spoke.
“I’m happy for you,” I continued, my voice oozing with fake sincerity. “I’m glad you’ve found your happiness.”
Jacob’s expression darkened. “You‘ re the one who left me, Rose,” he spat, his words sharp. “And now you‘ re married to my enemy.”
I took a deep breath, fighting the urge to roll my eyes. “I wouldn’t have had to marry your enemy if you hadn’t cheated on me in the first place, Jacob,” I snapped back, my voice steady despite the emotions swirling inside me.
Jenna scoffed loudly, stepping forward with a

smug look. “Oh, please,” she said, her tone dripping with mockery. “Xander will toss
you aside once he’s done getting his revenge on Jacob. You really are that naive, aren’t you?”
I couldn’t hold back my laugh. “You really don’t know anything, do you, Jenna?” I said, my voice full of derision.
Xander, who had been silent up until now, finally spoke, his voice calm but firm.
“Jacob, keep your woman on a leash,” he said, his gaze never wavering from Jenna.
“We don’t need to hear what she doesn’t
know.”
Jenna’s eyes flared, but she said nothing. Jacob, on the other hand, couldn’t resist one last jab. “You don’t have to stay with him,

Rose. It’s not too late to walk away.”
I chuckled, the sound sharp and mocking.
“Oh, Jacob,” I said, shaking my head. “You’ve got a woman on your arm, and you‘ re still looking for me. How pathetic.” Just as I finished speaking, the door to the office building opened, and my father‘ s assistant walked in. I knew what was coming, but I couldn’t help the feeling of satisfaction. that bubbled up inside me as Jacob rushed forward, eager to introduce himself.
Jacob extended his hand, the confident air around him unshaken. “Jacob Lowell,” he said smoothly, his eyes gleaming with ambition. “This is my wife, Jenna.”
The assistant looked at Jacob, then at Jenna, his expression unreadable. “Jacob Lowell?”

he asked, his voice neutral but piercing.
“I’m the CEO’s assistant.”
Jacob‘ s smile faltered slightly as he tried to recover. “I… I don‘ t understand. You‘ re the assistant? But who’s the CEO?”
The assistant’s gaze flicked to me, and then, with deliberate slowness, he pointed toward me. “This,” he said, “is Mrs. Rose Biden, formerly Miss Rose Anderson. Her father owns this company. She’s the heiress.”
