The words hung in the air, thick with disbelief. My hand was still frozen, holding the drink I had just fetched for Nora, my mind racing from the conversation I’d overheard.
But I had no choice. I couldn’t let on that I had heard everything. Nora was already walking ahead of me, her heels clicking loudly on the hospital floor as if she were strutting through her own victory parade.
I forced myself to calm down, my heart still pounding in my chest. I handed her the drink with a smile that felt more like a grimace.
“Here,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Nora took the drink, her smug expression only growing. “You know,” she said, her tone dripping with satisfaction, “it‘ s only

a matter of time Ethan‘ s parents will kick you out.”

I said nothing. There was nothing to say. had all the proof I needed now. Nora could gloat all she wanted, but I knew the truth. It wasn’t going to let her get away with it.
When we got back to the house, the tension between Nora and me was palpable, but I didn’t show it. I didn’t want her to see how much she had rattled me. I went
straight to Ethan, my mind buzzing with everything I had just learned.
“Ethan,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper as I pulled him aside. “I need to tell you something.”
Ethan looked at me, his expression softening. “What is it?”
I took a deep breath, gathering my courage. “Nora isn’t pregnant, Ethan. She’s been
faking it. I overheard her talking to the doctor at the hospital. She’s not pregnant. She’s pretending.”

Ethan’s face went pale, his eyes wide with shock. “What? Are you sure?”
“I’m sure,” I said, nodding. “I
overheard the whole conversation. She‘ s
been playing all of us.”
Ethan’s face twisted with a mixture of disbelief and anger. “I can’t believe this. Why would she do something like that?”
I clenched my fists. “She’s using this lie to manipulate everyone.”
Ethan paced for a moment, running a hand through his hair. “We need to expose her. We can’t just let her get away with this.”
I nodded. “I want to expose her. I want everyone to know the truth.”
Ethan stopped pacing, turning to face me. “We need evidence. We need something concrete, something that proves she’s lying. If you confront her without that, no one will believe you.‘
I nodded. “I have an idea. I’ll set up a

camera. We’ll get her to confess.”
Ethan looked hesitant. “Are you sure about this, Lynn? It‘ s risky.”
“I’m sure,” I said firmly. “She thinks she’s untouchable, but she’s not. I’ll get the proof we need.”
The next day, I was up early, secretly preparing for my plan. I set up a small camera on the balcony, positioned so it would capture everything that happened in the garden.
The camera was discreet enough that I was confident Nora wouldn’t notice it. Once everything was ready, I sent Nora a text, inviting her to come over. I knew she‘ d want to confront me again, and I was ready.
When she arrived, I greeted her with a tight smile, keeping my composure. She walked in, her usual smugness evident as she took in the surroundings.
“Well, well, what do we have here?” she

said, her voice dripping with mockery.
“Decided to invite me over for another chat, did you?”
I didn’t waste any time. “I know what you‘ re doing, Nora,” I said, my voice. cold. “I know you‘ re not pregnant.
Nora froze, her eyes widening for just a fraction of a second before her confidence returned. “What are you talking about?” she said, trying to sound innocent, but the shakiness in her voice betrayed her.
“I know you’ve been faking it. I overheard your conversation with the doctor. You‘ re not pregnant. You‘ ve been lying to everyone, including Javier.”
Nora‘ s expression hardened, but she didn’t deny it. Instead, she took a step forward, her gaze fierce. “You don’t have any proof,” she said, her voice low but threatening. “You think anyone will
believe you? The doctor is on my side. I’ve got this all figured out.”

“They will believe me, Nora. Especially when I tell them you’ve kept falling down yourself just to make me look bad,” I added.
“You‘ re wasting your time, no one believed you yesterday despite the fact that all the times I’ve fallen, I faked it,” she said with a smirk, trying to regain her dominance. “No one will believe you, Lynn. They’ll all think you‘ re just trying to ruin my life because you‘ re jealous.”
I stared at her, my anger rising. “You‘ re delusional if you think I care about you or your life. But I’m going to expose you. I’m going to make sure everyone knows what you really are.
Her expression shifted, and for the first time, I saw a flicker of real fear. But it didn’t last long. She quickly recovered, her eyes narrowing as she leaned in, her voice dripping with venom. “You can expose me all you want. But in the end, Javier is mine. You‘ ll never have him.”
