LYNN
The next morning, I woke up with a heavy heart, knowing the difficult decision I had to face. Everything had changed so suddenly, and now I was forced to confront the past, the present, and the future all at once. Javier’s words from the day before still lingered in my mind, and I knew I had to make a choice–one that would shape my life from here on out.
Just as I finished getting ready, I heard the doorbell ring, followed by a knock on the door. My stomach tightened. I knew who it was before I even opened the door.
Javier stood there, looking desperate, his eyes wide with an emotion I couldn’t quite decipher. He didn’t wait for an invitation to speak. His words came rushing out like a tidal wave.

The audacity of him to speak that way about Ethan–about someone who had never done anything but support me- made my blood boil. But before I could respond, the door behind me creaked open. I glanced over my shoulder, and there stood Ethan, his jaw set in a firm line, his presence suddenly filling the room.
Without missing a beat, he strode over to me, took my hand, and kissed me deeply- long enough to erase any remnants of Javier’s words from my mind. When he pulled away, he winked at me.

Before I could even react, Ethan swung his fist, landing a solid punch to Javier‘ s jaw. The sound of it was sickening–like a punch to the very air. Javier stumbled back, his hands instinctively going to his face, a mixture of shock and pain contorting his features.
“Stay away from her, Javier,” Ethan said coldly, his voice low and dangerous.
“Lynn is not yours anymore. You‘ ve lost her.”
Javier‘ s anger boiled over, but I saw the doubt creeping into his eyes as he realized the severity of the situation. He was no longer in control. Not with me. Not with
Ethan.

I nodded, my heart racing with a mix of emotions. “I’m fine, Ethan. I’m more than fine. Thank you.”
He smiled at me, a soft, genuine smile that made my heart flutter. “We’ve been through a lot together, Lynn,” he said, his voice full of warmth. “But if you‘ re
ready, we can start something new. No more games. Just us.”
