Chapter 19 – The Wedding Day
LYNN
Two weeks had passed since the moment I’d made my choice. Everything had happened so quickly, and yet, it felt like a lifetime. My life was moving in a direction I could never have imagined, but now that I was here, I could only feel one thing: peace.
Ethan had surprised me with a simple but heartfelt proposal one evening, right after we‘ d returned from a small trip together.
I hadn‘ t expected it, but when he asked, it felt like the most natural thing in the world. He didn’t need a grand gesture; he just needed to speak from the heart. And he did.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Lynn,” he had said, kneeling in front of me with a ring in his hand. “I want to give you a wedding, the one you’ve always

dreamed of. I want us to build a future together.”
Tears had filled my eyes as I said yes. Not because I was overwhelmed with emotion in a typical wedding–proposal sense, but because I was finally able to see the love we had–real, raw, and simple. For the first time, I wasn‘ t torn between two people. I knew where my heart belonged.
So, here we were. The day I would marry Ethan, the man who had stood by me when I needed someone the most, who had supported me unconditionally. The wedding was everything I wanted: intimate, beautiful, and a symbol of new beginnings.
That morning, I visited my parents to share the news. They were thrilled, beaming with happiness. My father, always the quiet one, had embraced me with a tight hug and said, “I’m proud of you, Lynn. You‘ ve grown into someone I can be proud of. I wish you nothing but joy.”

My mother had teared up, a soft smile on her face. “Ethan’s a good man. I’m so happy for you, sweetheart.”
With their blessings, I felt ready. I was walking down the aisle with my father, his hand wrapped gently around mine, leading me toward the future.
The church was filled with people, the soft melodies of the music blending into the air, and the scent of fresh flowers all around
- us.
Ethan stood at the altar, looking dashing in his tuxedo, waiting for me with a smile that made my heart race.
As we reached the end of the aisle, my father gave me one last look before.
handing me over to Ethan. His words were simple: “Take care of my daughter, Ethan. Make her happy.”
Ethan’s hand tightened around mine, and he whispered, “I will. I promise.

place. The ceremony went smoothly, each moment more surreal than the last, as I said my vows and exchanged rings with the man I had chosen. There were no doubts, no hesitations–only love.
When the ceremony concluded, we walked out of the church as husband and wife, the applause echoing around us. I felt like I was walking on air. Everything was perfect.
But then, as we were leaving the church, something unexpected happened.
Javier approached us with a smile on his face, his expression polite but with an underlying desperation. He stood in front of us, his hands clasped together, his voice strained as he spoke.
“Ethan,” he said, his voice tight, “Lynn, I just want to say congratulations. I-” he paused for a beat before continuing.
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes, and I’ve hurt you, Lynn. But I hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive me.”

Ethan‘ s jaw clenched, but he said nothing. He simply stood there, his eyes cold and unreadable.
I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness as I looked at Javier. He‘ d once been a big part of my life, but now he seemed like a stranger. I felt no anger toward him anymore, just a sense of finality.
He had his chance, and he had lost it. But even so, I still found it in me to say, “I forgive you, Javier. But we both need to move on. I’ve chosen my future.
Before Javier could respond, I felt a chill run down my spine. The church doors burst open, and Nora stormed in, her eyes blazing with fury.
Her voice rang out, cutting through the murmur of the crowd. “You ruined
my
life, Lynn!” she screamed, her face contorted in rage. “You took everything from me–Javier was supposed to be mine! You stole him from me!”

I flinched as she stormed toward us, her hands trembling with rage. “You think this is some fairy tale?” she yelled. “You think you’ve won? You haven’t. You‘ re just as pathetic as I always knew you were.”
Before I could react, she pulled a gun from beneath her jacket, and my heart stopped. The world seemed to move in slow motion as she pointed it at me, her finger tightening on the trigger.
“NO!” Ethan shouted, throwing himself in front of me just as the shot rang
g out.
