Chapter 11%
“I won’t marry that wicked woman!” Lorenzo screamed. “It was all her idea! Danna, I don’t want her! You’re the only one I love!“}
The moment he said that, Vanessa threw herself onto him.
“Loren, please stop being delusional. Danna is now the Princess Consort. She’s out of your league. You could never reach her!” “I’m the one who truly loves you. Marry me–I don’t care what you’ve lost.”
But Lorenzo shoved her away like she was a plague.
“Get lost! If it weren’t for you seducing me, I never would’ve left her! If not for you, I’d still be the richest man in the country–I might’ve even had twin sons by now!“>
“You wretched woman! You told me to fake amnesia, to lie to her, saying she loved me too much to ever leave. You said when the time was right, I could ‘regain my memory‘ and she’d still follow me!“}
Lorenzo’s eyes burned red with rage as he kicked Vanessa again and again, each blow crueler than the last.
She rolled on the ground, screaming for mercy. Then suddenly, her face twisted into a snarl, her eyes locking onto him in fury.” “Lorenzo, you deserve to rot in prison with nothing to your name! How dare you hit me? You’re the real piece of trash here!”
“Danna grew up with you for twenty years, and she treated you like gold. But all I had to do was flatter you a little, say I admired you, and you followed me around like a dog.”}
“I told you to fake amnesia, and you did. I told you to curse Danna, and you did. I told you to hit her–and you did! Are you a dog, listening to your master like that?“”
“Everything you’re suffering now–you deserve it. Danna was lucky she never ended up with an animal like you. You’re only fit to die behind bars.“@
Lorenzo’s face turned a terrifying shade of green. He shook his head violently.
“No–it wasn’t like that! It was you, you filthy liar! You said you’d be more obedient than Danna! You said I could do anything I wanted to you in bed! It was you who tempted me, you who destroyed everything!“}]
Screaming, he lunged at Vanessa, straddling her body and slamming her head repeatedly into the floor.
Vanessa shrieked, cursed, and fought back, but her voice soon fell silent.
Blood flowed freely from her head, forming a crimson pool around her. It splashed onto Lorenzo’s clothes and face.
He turned to me, wild and unhinged.
“Danna, I’ve already killed the woman who hurt you. No one will ever come between us again. Please, just forgive me. If I so much as glance at another woman again, gouge cut my eyes!“}
Charles had finally had enough. He stormed forward and kicked Lorenzo hard in the chest.
“Danna is my wife now. You dare even look at her like that? You must be tired of living!“}
But Lorenzo seemed immune to pain. He crawled toward me like a madman, blood smeared across his face.
“Danna, don’t leave me! I was wrong! You’re the only one I ever truly loved–you’re the one who should’ve been my wife!“>
I stared at his outstretched hand–and slapped it aside with full force.
“Lorenzo, you’re now a murderer. You assaulted a prince of the French royal family–and you still have the audacity to speak of love? You disgust me.”
I turned away, not sparing him another glance.
Men like him–shameless and vile–were the kind that could ruin your soul just by existing in your life.
Charles came to my side, gently cradling my hand with concern.
“My darling, did you hurt your hand? Don’t get angry next time–let me do the beating. You just watch, alright?“}
With that, he backhanded Lorenzo so hard he flew three meters across the room.
Then came another kick.
And another.
Until Lorenzo lay curled on the ground, wheezing like a dying dog.
Charles waved to the guards.
“Send him to the police. Butler, handle the details.”
News of Lorenzo’s crimes spread quickly. People avoided him like the plague. No one spoke on his behalf. Even his lawyer barely made an effort to defend him.
Two weeks later, the court sentenced Lorenzo to life imprisonment.
He went into prison screaming like a lunatic, claiming he was the richest man in the country, the Princess Consort’s brother.
But within days, he was found dead in his cell–eyes wide open in terror, staring blankly into the void.
When I heard the news, I was with Charles and our two babies, touring New York’s scenic spots under the mayor’s personal escort!
The mayor held my hand warmly and said, “Your Highness, New York’s millions of citizens are counting on you. On their behalf, I thank you and His Highness for investing in our city“:
Charles wrapped his arm lovingly around me %
11:05 AM
“Mayor, Danna’s hometown is my hometown too. I promise–we’ll build it into the most beautiful city there is.”
The mayor beamed with excitement, his face red with joy.
His smile outshone even the sunset.
I looked up at Charles and smiled.
So this was what all the detours were for–to meet someone truly worthy.
Thankfully, fate was kind.
It made sure I never missed out on the one who loved me the most.
