Chapter 17–A Kiss In The Dressing Room
The rest of the shopping with Rose was fun.
She picked out so many cute outfits, twirling around happily in each one.”
I laughed, feeling my heart swell with happiness just watching her
Cynthia was especially ecstatic about her even though she had been skeptical initially
“She’s such a lovely girl filled with lots of energy,” Cynthia gushed, “She reminds me of you when you were little.”
I nodded, “She does seem to have my affinity for cute pink girly stuff and she seems to have my fashion sense,” laughed.
Rose giggled, “That’s why I’m your daughter. Now I’m not sad that my mama threw me out of the house again,”
I stared at Cynthia and sighed. I had been considering asking Rose if we could pay her birth mother a visit but at this rate I don’t think she’d agree.
After we finished shopping for Rose, I glanced at Chase.X
“Now it’s your turn,” I said, smiling. “We should get you some clothes too.
Chase shook his head. “I’ll only shop if you let me shop for you too.”
I frowned a little. ‘No need. This store is pretty expensive.”
He grinned. “I don’t mind. You’ve already paid me for the first month of our arrangement. Let me spend a little bit on you.”
I stared at him, feeling touched by his words. He looked so sincere, so different from the broken man I had first metil
“Alright,” I said softly. “Let’s shop.”
I picked out a simple, cute casual outfit. It wasn’t too expensive and would be perfect for daily errands.
But Chase wasn’t satisfied.2
He walked straight to the display and picked out a breathtaking custom–made diamond dress.
I gasped when I saw it &
“Chase… That’s way too much” I said quickly. “You can’t afford that dress even with all the money I paid you.
“Just try it on,” he said, handing it to me. His eyes held a quiet determination. “Please.“!
I sighed but took the dress.
“Fine, but you’re not buying it I muttered under my breath
I went into the dressing room and started changing
The dress fit like a dream, but when I tried to zip it up, the zipper got stuck halfway!
““Uh._hello?” I called out. “Can someone help me?”!
No response.
I struggled a little more, but it was useless. I gave up and opened the door a little, peeking out.
Before I could say anything, Chase appeared, stepping inside.
My heart almost stopped.
I stood there, the beautiful dress clinging to my body, my back bare, the zipper stuck
“Chase!” I gasped. “You can’t just come in!
He chuckled lightly. “Relax. I’m not looking much,” he teased.X
I tried to step back, panicking a little, but my foot caught on the hem of the dress
I stumbled forward.
Chase caught me instantly, his arms wrapping tightly around my waist
My face was just inches from his. His hands brushed against my bare back, and a shiver ran down my spine.
The small dressing room suddenly felt much, much smaller!!
I looked up at him, breathing shallowly. He smelled so good. So warm. So safe.
His fingers brushed my skin lightly, sending tingles across my body.
“You’re… beautiful,” Chase said in a low husky voice.!!
I stared at him, my heart pounding so loudly I was sure he could hear it.
I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. Instead, one question slipped out before I could stop it.
“Who are you really?“);
Chase smiled gently. “Your husband,” he said, “who is slowly getting enamored by you”
I froze, feeling my cheeks heat up instantly.
And then before I could even react, his lips touched mine
The world seemed to explode in different colors
His kiss was gentle yet desperate, like he had been waiting a long time for this moment.
12:23 PM
The curtain flung open.
Cynthia’s voice broke the spell.
“He hasn’t zipped you up yet—“}
She froze mid–sentence, her mouth dropping open as she saw us.
Chase and I jerked apart immediately, I stumbled back, my cheeks burning hotter than fire.
Cynthia stared at us, wide–eyed, clearly realizing what she had just interrupted.
