“Good morning, handsome,” she said, grinning.
“What’s all this?” I asked, surprised.
She set the tray down on my lap. “A celebration! You’re about to land your biggest contract
I chuckled and kissed her hand, “Thank you, Elena”
“Eat up! You’ll need your strength,” she said, beaming
I dug in grateful. After breakfast, I took a long shower. When I came out, Elena was waiting with a suit laid out
“I picked it for you, she said, smoothing the jacket. “You’ll look amazing
I smiled and changed quickly. Once I was dressed, she clapped her hands.
“You look perfect,” she whispered. “Good luck, Richard. I know you’ll make me proud.”

“Mr. Stonewell, please have a seat. The CEO will see you shortly.”
Inodded and sat down, tapping my foot. My nerves buzzed with excitement. This was it. My big break.
After a few minutes, the secretary ushered me to a large office. It was… empty.
I frowned, confused. Was early??
I stood awkwardly, waiting.
Suddenly, the door opened behind me. Two men walked in
One wore a crisp black suit and carried a tablet. The other looked more casual but serious
The first man smiled politely. “I’m Leo, the CEO’s assistant “”
The second man didn’t introduce himself. He just stood there, watching me like a hawk.
I swallowed and smiled. “Thank you both for seeing me today. It’s an honori
The man cut me off sharply. “I didn’t agree to meet you.”
I blinked, startled
“Tm only meeting you because someone recommended you,” he said, his voice cold

He scoffed.
Lec snorted and looked at the mystery man. “Never heard of her.“%
The man tilted his head. “Who?”
“Late Bellaire’s illegitimate daughter, Leo explained with a sneer.!!
The man waved it off. “Doesn’t matter. I’m here because of Olivia Bellaire.7

“She’s the one who set all this up for you.
I stood there, stunned.
Not Elena.”
The man crossed his arms. “And since you’re no longer associated with Olivia, we’re pulling out.”
Leo nodded. “And once we pull out, the other investors following us will pull out too.“X
My world started spinning My mouth went dry.
“No, no, please,” I begged, my voice cracking. I dropped to my knees without even thinking. “Please, don’t do this. You’ll destroy me”
