Chapter 29 The Full Truth
Leo drove while I sat in the backseat, holding Rose close. Chase sat beside me, his arm protectively around us.
As we drove deeper into the neighborhood, my heart broke.
The streets were dirty, the houses looked broken down, and everything felt cold and lifeless
I couldn’t believe my little girl had lived here. She deserved so much better.
When Leo parked the car, I almost gagged from the stench
“This place.” I whispered, covering my nose. “How did she survive here?”
Chase’s jaw clenched. “We’re getting answers today”
We stepped out of the car, Rose clung to my hand tightly, her eyes wide with fear

A few seconds later, a woman opened the door. She looked wom out, her clothes stained and hair messy. The moment her eyes landed on Rose.. and then me she gasped

I stepped back, confused and wary. “What are you talking about?”
The woman wiped her tears and looked up at me, her face full of quilt!
“I was… I was the midwife at the hospital, she said, her voice shaking. “The day you gave birth… three years ago.”

Chase stiffened beside me. “What do you mean?”
She sobbed harder. “Elena and Rosa paid me. They paid me a lot to get rid of your daughter. They said… they said you didn’t want her. I I staggered backward, my hand over my mouth

“I swear,” she cried. “I was supposed to take her away. But… I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t kill a baby. I took her home instead. I raised her…. until I had my own child and couldn’t handle two babies anymore. That’s when… that’s when I threw her out.”
I stared at her horrified
“You abandoned a three–year–old child on the streets?” I screamed. “She could have died!”
She kept crying, begging for mercy. “Please! My baby he’s just a few months old. Please don’t take him away!”
“You don’t deserve to be a mother,” I said, my voice cold, “No real mother would do what you did.”
Chase looked like he was barely controlling his rage.!!
“Elena and Rosa.” he muttered, his fists clenching. “They destroyed our lives. They kept our daughter from us!“”
Leo didn’t waste time. He pulled out his phone and called the police.
“They’re on their way he said shortly.
Rose hid behind me, fnghtened by the woman’s loud sobs.
“It’s okay, baby,” I whispered, pulling her into my arms. “You’re safe now.”

As we walked back to the car Chase looked at me, his eyes burning with fury.
“They’re going to pay he said quietly “Elena. Rosa. Every last one of them.”
I nodded, tears filling my eyes. “They stole three years of our daughter’s life.”
“And tonight,” Chase said, “we end this ”
Rose squeezed my hand “Mommy? Daddy? Am I really yours?”
Chase knelt down and cupped her face gently. “You are ours, baby girl. You always were.”
I kissed her forehead, holding her close. “We’ll never let anyone hurt you again.“X
Rose’s face lit up with a smile so pure it almost broke me all over again

Curious, I took it and plugged it into the laptop on the living room table.
I pressed play.
The screen showed the hospital the night of the fire
It clearly showed Elena was the one who started the fire and tried to kill me.⠀
I gasped loudly, covering my mouth.
“Where… how did you get this?” I asked, my voice trembling.
Chase sat beside me “I pulled a lot of strings. Found an old backup security footage that wasn’t destroyed.”
“This is proof,” Chase said. “Proof of everything they did to us.”
I turned to him, my heart pounding.
“You’re planning something.” I said quietly.
He smiled grimly “Tonight’s party… we’re going to ruin them. In front of everyone.“%
Rose sat between us, watching with wide eyes.
“You’re safe now, baby” I whispered to her. “They’ll never hurt you again.“?
Chase wrapped his arms around both of us.
“For our daughter,” he said. “For everything they took from us.”
I nodded, wiping my tears.
Tonight would be the night everything changed.
Tonight… Elena and Rosa would finally face the consequences of their wickedness.
