Chapter 13
“Find Candace! Find her for me!” Shawn yelled.
The birthday celebration came to a close with the shocking news that Candace had taken Jamie with her and jumped into the river, ending both their
lives.
Lucia was so overwhelmed with grief that she had a relapse of an old illness and was admitted to the hospital. Meanwhile, Shawn was rushed to the emergency room after a few blood vessels in his brain ruptured.
Yelena rushed to the hospital after hearing the news. She stayed by Shawn’s side for three days and three nights before he began to stir awake. When he saw her, he clamped his hand around her neck and shoved her against the wall.
Shawn had a fierce glint in his eyes. His voice was hoarse when he said, “I remember everything now. You took Candace’s place. You’re the bitch who drove a wedge into my relationship with Candace, causing me to misunderstand her for eight whole years! You’re the one who forced her to jump into the river with my son!
“I’m going to make your life a living hell!”
Yelena’s face was starting to turn purple from the lack of oxygen. She struggled wildly, trying to push him away.
“Do you really think you’re completely free of responsibility in this incident? If you really loved Candace, why were you so easily deluded by my lies? The one who drove her to the brink of despair was you! You’re the one who’s responsible for Candace’s and Jamie’s deaths!”
Anguish flickered across Shawn’s face. He clutched his chest and fell to his knees as countless voices reverberated in his ears.
“Shawn, can you buy this pair of pink running shoes for me? You used to buy all of my shoes. They were all stylish and comfortable!”
“Shawn, this is your favorite lamb stew. Have a taste. Maybe you’ll remember something?”
In the next second, Candace’s agonized voice in the recording echoed in his ears. “Fine. I’ll do as you wish. I’ll vacate the position of ‘Mrs. Hamilton‘ for you!”
Shawn gripped the recording device tightly as he lifted his tear–filled eyes. He gritted his next words out through clenched teeth. “Candace is strong. She wouldn’t die just like that! When I find her, I’ll have you compensate her for everything that you’ve done, you evil witch.”
The conflict between Shawn, Candace, and Yelena spread like wildfire throughout the country overnight. The public criticized Yelena for harboring malicious intentions and having a despicable heart. They left comments demanding that she be kicked out of the entertainment industry.
In the blink of an eye, all the advertisements and movies in which Yelena was featured were taken down.
Hamilton Group’s stock prices plummeted, causing the shareholders to complain profusely. Shawn was also labeled as a disloyal man by the public. They were merciless as they criticized his actions.
The scandal between Shawn and Yelena stayed in the trending news for an entire month, with everyone eager to put the two main characters on blast for
their heinous acts.
The popularity of the articles related to the scandal showed no signs of slowing down, which meant that Candace, who had relocated to Fohzan, would come across news about them every day. She didn’t bother clicking into the articles and would completely ignore them.
She didn’t want Shawn anymore, so she couldn’t care less if he lived or died.
Candace now went by Aurelia Sinclair. She owned a bakery and had her beloved Jamie by her side. When she had nothing els

One morning, when Candace brought Jamie to the hospital for a checkup, she bumped into Zayne in the elevator. Zayne pinned her with an unwavering stare before his eyes reddened suddenly.
“Mrs. Hamilton. It’s been a long time. Have you been well?”
“You’re mistaken. I’m Aurelia Sinclair.”
Candace was about to take her leave, but Zayne blocked her path.
“You may have cut your hair short and removed the mole under your right eye, but I can still recognize you. Mrs. Hamilton, I was also a student at Pioneer High School. In fact, I was in the same year as you and Mr. Hamilton.
“My name is Zayne Pearson. Do you remember me now?”
