“Alright, since you said so, I’ll believe you.” Shairine smiled.
“Zoey, you’re kind, beautiful, and if it weren’t for Jason, I think we could’ve been great friends.”
Even after Shairine left, her words kept echoing in my mind.

In my past life, the day before Jason and I got married, she came to me.
She showed me all the memories she and Jason had shared, then told me, “Jason is marrying you out of
responsibility. He will never love you. Cancel the wedding–it’ll do you more good than harm.”
I dismissed her then, firmly believing that Jason loved me. I thought marriage would bring me the happiness |
had longed for.
But reality hit me hard.
As my cold worsened, fragments of memories with Jason kept flashing in my mind–some from my past life, others from the current.
When I finally woke up after a long, feverish sleep, I felt sticky with sweat. After sitting for a moment to regain my strength, I grabbed my pajamas and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
When I returned, I noticed the phone on my nightstand was still lit up.
Picking it up, I saw ten missed calls–all from Jason.
I didn’t return the calls, pretending not to see them. Instead, I sent a message to Yves.
“Brother, something came up. I need to head home tomorrow, so I won’t be going back with you all.”
We had originally planned to stay for three days, but I left after just one.
It was still early when I departed, and aside from Yves, no one knew I was leaving.
After a five–hour bus ride, I finally arrived home. Before I could even settle in, my mom called.
“I heard you’ve been thinking about dating recently. I’ve had my eye on a young man for a while now. He’s two
years older than you, steady, and handsome. You should meet him when you’re free.”
Ever since I graduated from college, my mom had been urging me to start dating, but I always refused. They all thought I wasn’t interested in romance, but they didn’t know I’d been with Jason for a long time. “Sure, set it up. Let me know when and where,” I agreed readily.
My mom was stunned by my quick acceptance. “You agreed so fast–something must’ve happened, right?” “What could’ve happened?” I chuckled lightly, feeling a bit helpless. “Just set it up. I trust your judgment. You’re my mom–you wouldn’t hurt me, would you?”
“Of course not! Just wait for my good news,” she beamed.
After hanging up, I turned my focus to work.

In my past life, I gave up everything for marriage Against all advice, I quit my job to be a housewife, sacrificing the chance for a major promotion
I thought abandoning my career for love would bring happiness, but all i got was a life wasted.
This time, I wouldn’t let the opportunity for advancement slip through my fingers.
To avoid distractions, I turned off my phone and buried myself at work
By the time I was done, it was already nine in the evening Exhausted, I went to bed without turning my phone
back on.
The next morning, as I grabbed my bag to leave for work, I opened the door to find Jason standing outside.
He was still wearing the same black coat as yesterday, his hair slightly disheveled, and fatigue evident in his
eyes It looked like he had rushed back
“Jason, do you need something?”
“Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
We both spoke at the same time.
Hearing the accusatory tone in his voice, I steadied myself and replied with a faint smile. “My phone was off. I
didn’t notice. Is there something you need?”
My tone was cold but calm.
“Zoey, can you stop talking to me like this? Since when did things between us become so distant?”
