As I spoke, I walked toward the company entrance.
When I reached the door, I was surprised to see Yves and Jason standing there.
I instinctively ended the call and approached them. “Brother, why are you here?”
“I just finished a meeting to finalize a deal. Since it’s lunchtime and I was passing by your company, I thought I’d pick you up so we could celebrate signing the contract over a meal.”
Jason’s gaze stayed fixed on me, burning with an intensity impossible to ignore.
But I deliberately avoided meeting his eyes, pretending not to notice. When we got into the car, I climbed into
Yves‘ vehicle without hesitation,
Jason’s expression darkened with displeasure, though he didn’t say anything.
At the restaurant, after placing our orders, Yves suddenly raised an eyebrow and smirked. “I heard Mom set you
up on a blind date and even confirmed the time. Are you seriously planning to go?”
The moment he said this, Jason’s hand, which was holding his glass, trembled. He turned to me in shock. “What
blind date?”

Ignoring his question, I looked at Yves instead and said, “Of course, it’s already arranged. Did you think I was joking when I mentioned it before?”
Jason let out an incredulous laugh, as though resigned to frustration. “Zoey, I’m not dead yet. Why are you going
on a blind date?”
Yves frowned, clearly puzzled. “What does that even mean? What does Zoey’s blind date have to do with you?”
“She’s my girlfriend. Do you think it has nothing to do with me?” Jason fired back. His eyes locked onto mine, silently urging me to confirm his words.
But I refused to play along.
Yves got angry when he heard this and angrily rebuked, “What the hell are you talking about? Why haven’t I heard of you two being together?”
Taking a deep breath, he turned to me for answers. “Zoey, is he telling the truth?”
I looked at the two people who were about to explode in front of me and shook my head, and calmly replied, “No, there’s nothing between me and Jason.”
The moment those words left my lips, Jason shot to his feet, his face a mix of disbelief and hurt. “Zoey, you can
be upset with me, but how can you say something like that?”
Yves, equally confused, tried to piece everything together.
“Wait. If you’re saying you’ve been with Zoey, then show me some proof. Let me see.
Jason froze, utterly speechless.
During our time together, there wasn’t a single photo of us as a couple. He hated taking pictures, claiming it wasn’t his thing.

Even our online conversations were one–sided, with me initiating and him responding briefly.
There was no evidence of our relationship–none at all.
Seeing him hesitate, Yves rolled his eyes in exasperation. “I get it, my sister is beautiful and popular, but your delusions are getting out of hand. Jason, maybe go see a doctor. This can’t be healthy.”
Jason’s face turned red with anger as he loudly retorted, “Zoey really is my girlfriend! We’ve been together for
seven years!”
Then, as though coaxing a child, he softened his tone and pleaded with me, “Zoey, please tell him. Everything I’m saying is true–you’re my girlfriend.”
I simply shook my head. “Jason, stop saying nonsense. It’s not good to let people misunderstand.”
No matter how much he insisted, I refused to admit it.
Even if he wanted to provide evidence, he had none.
Our seven years together existed only between the two of us, with no tangible proof for anyone else to see.
In the end, Yves became increasingly convinced that something was wrong with him. Without finishing the meal, he dragged me away.
On the way back, he even warned me, “I think Jason’s mental state has been off lately. You’d better keep your
distance from him.”
Lagreed with what Yves said.
