Xavier thought that after everything, Reina would finally stop her relentless pursuit of him.
But the next day, to his surprise, she announced in the media that she had customized a luxurious, multi–million–dollar purple sports car for him.
With a smile, she spoke to the reporters. “This car is called ‘Cherish‘. It’s the only one in the world, and it’s my gift to my husband for his birthday. Though he’s still holding some grudges against me, I’m going to do everything I can to make things right and be a good wife to him.”
The interview quickly skyrocketed to the top of the trending news, and the comments section immediately exploded.
“Xavier is so dramatic. He disappeared for four years over some small issue. Ms. Yarrow was so devastated by him that she had five surgeries in three years!”
“Ms. Yarrow has been so good to him, and he actually ran away? He’s the one who hurt Hugo first! That’s just too much!”
“He hurt Hugo, causing his spleen to rupture, and Ms. Yarrow can’t even say anything? What a jerk!”
Xavier put his phone down without replying to any of the comments. He had moved on with his life and wasn’t bothered by the senseless online criticism.
However, Reina’s pursuit of him only grew more intense. She bombarded him with endless texts and calls, so he simply blocked her number and switched to a new SIM card.
Unfazed, Reina sent him a countless number of expensive watches, all of which he returned.
On his birthday, Xavier ran into Reina at the entrance of his party venue.
Standing in front of the luxurious car, she looked at him with longing. “Xavier, try the car I got you.”
Reina’s friends were in shock.
“Reina, are you sure you have the right person? This man is Neo Caldwell, your mom’s boyfriend. He’s not Xavier.”
“But seriously, Neo and Xavier look almost like twins. But I remember Xavier’s the only child in his family.”
Pain flashed in Reina’s eyes. “He is Xavier! He only changed his name to avoid me.”
She pulled out a large bouquet of peach blossoms from behind her and handed them to Xavier. “Xavier, the peach trees I planted for you have bloomed. Don’t they look beautiful? Here. Happy birthday.”
As soon as she said that, the crowd began to stir.
“Take the flowers, Xavier. Ms. Yarrow has searched the world for you for four years. She nearly lost her mind. She loves you so much. Can’t you forgive her?”
“The impact of a first love is too strong. Ms. Yarrow couldn’t resist the temptation, but that’s understandable. She’s come to her senses. Why can’t you Just forgive and move on?”
“Don’t forget. You’re four years older than Ms. Yarrow and infertile. She’s already humbled herself to please you. How can you be so ungrateful?” Frowning, Xavier sneered. “Reina, am I the one who’s infertile?”
The crowd gasped and stared at Reina in shock.
“I’m sorry, Xavier. I made you carry so much blame for all these years,” Reina said with a pained expression. “But I’ve recovered now. I can give you as many children as you want. Will you come back to me? I really can’t live without you!”
Once, Xavier had wanted Reina’s unconditional love and attention more than anything. But when she finally started to care for him, everything had already changed.
What he had once craved was no longer desirable to him. He had already stepped into a broader life, and in his plans for a beautiful future, there was no place for her.
“I’ll never come back to you, Reina.” Xavier flashed a bright smile at the reporters. “Because I’ve already found the love of my life. We’re getting engaged on the fifth of next month. Please, wish us the best!”
