Chapter 25
Xavier logged out of WhatsApp and placed the laptop back on the nightstand.
As he turned to leave, he noticed Reina, who had her eyes shut tightly, seemingly trapped in a nightmare. She called his name in fear.
Thinking about his escape plan, he swallowed his resentment and gently took her hand. “I’m here.”
“Xavier!”
Reina woke up in a cold sweat. Her eyes were wide with surprise when she saw him sitting at the bedside. After a long pause, she said, “What a rare scene. You didn’t leave?”
“You’re carrying my child. I have no choice but to accept this.” Xavier gazed out the window with a weary expression. “I just hope that you stop keeping me locked up in here after the baby is born. Let me go back to Northreach City.”
Reina’s face lit up with joy. She grabbed his hand and kissed it fervently. “I promise you. I’ll take you back once I’m in my second trimester.
“I’m so happy, Xavier! I’m going to be a mom! This is our first child. Whether it’s a boy or girl, I’ll raise them to be a worthy heir of the Yarrow family!” Xavier pulled his hand away and stood up to leave.
He only wanted the woman he loved to bear his child, not Reina. As soon as he got back to Northreach City, the first thing he would do was find a way to get rid of the baby.
Reina was overjoyed by Xavier’s promise to keep the baby. Without a care for her injuries, she ordered preparations for the baby’s crib and maternity supplies.
She even drew a picture of the child’s facial features for Xavier. Excitement was evident in her voice as she said, “Xavier, don’t you think our baby is cute? Big eyes and double eyelids like yours. Face and chin like mine. How adorable!”
Xavier, anxiously waiting for help to arrive, was snapped back to the present by Reina’s passionate kiss.
He pushed her away and said in a distant tone, “You smell like blood. It’s making me nauseous.”
“Sorry.” Reina stepped back, still smiling brightly. “I’ve come up with 100 names for the baby, both male and female. Pick one you like.” “Maybe later.” Xavier tried to evade the conversation.
That night, he heated up milk for her and sang her to sleep. Reina, overly excited, held him tightly and kissed him for a long time.
In the middle of the night, the sound of a helicopter landing came from outside the window.
Xavier’s spirits lifted. He jumped out of bed, opened the door, and ran out of the villa. He hurried over to Sarah and said urgently, “Take me home! Hurry!” “You’re really ruthless, Xavier. How dare you spike the milk?” Reina shouted as she rushed out of the villa in a panic. “Get him!”
Before long, the helicopter took off.
Xavier looked down at Reina, who lay on the ground clutching her wound in pain, and muttered, “Goodbye.”
Back in Northreach City, Xavier had just checked into a hotel when Reina rushed in. She pleaded with him to come home and not marry Sarah.
She even kneeled on the ground. “Xavier, I promise I won’t lock you up anymore. Please don’t abandon me and the baby.”
“I don’t want you or the baby,” Xavier said flatly.
Without looking back, he turned and walked away, but Reina clung to his legs. During their struggle, she tumbled down the stairs.
As she stared at the blood trickling down between her legs, she sobbed in despair. “My baby! It’s gone! i’ve lost all hope! But I won’t give up, Xavier! I will find a way to win you back!”
