Chapter 27
At the New Year’s Eve family dinner, Reina gifted Xavier a priceless famous painting.
This time, he didn’t refuse it but calmly accepted. “Thank you.”
“Xavier, are you finally giving me a chance?” Reina asked, her voice trembling with joy.
Before she could say more, Xavier interrupted her, “Sarah is pregnant. The child is mine.”
“H–How dare you?” Reina’s face turned red with anger. She slapped the wine glass off the table and stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
The loud bang of the door made Xavier’s back chill. But at the same time, he felt a sense of relief.
He was certain that Reina wouldn’t bother him again after this. After all, that child was now, in a sense, her brother.
Later that night, as Xavier finished watching the fireworks show and was preparing to rest, he was suddenly interrupted by several of Reina’s friends bursting into the house.
“Xavier, Reina suddenly insisted on racing on the mountain roads. We can’t stop her. You have to come with us. If we don’t stop her now, something awful might happen!”
“It’s snowing heavily outside. She’s drunk out of her mind but insisting on racing. We don’t know what got into her, but she’s acting like she doesn’t care about her life at all. It’s driving us crazy!”
Xavier was immediately struck with a cold sweat. He quickly got out of bed and rushed to the racetrack. As he saw Reina getting on her bike, he shouted, Reina Yarrow, come down! Do you hear me?”
As she turned to look at him, tears immediately spilled from her eyes. “Xavier, do you know that you’re forcing me to die by getting Sarah pregnant? I’d rather die than see another woman have your child!”
Xavier walked over and gently supported the woman who was kneeling and crying. He said softly, “They say when you love someone, your love extends to everything connected to them. Why can’t you love my child?”
“I can’t do it!” Reina screamed, pulling at her hair in torment. Her eyes were filled with despair, like someone drowning. “I’m younger than Sarah, I make more money than her, and I’m prettier than her. Everything about me is better than her. Why didn’t you choose me?
“Why did you kill my baby? I’ve said it before. My body belongs to you, and all my money is yours. Why can’t you want me? You said you love me!” Xavier was on the verge of falling apart from her shaking, but he still replied firmly, “Because when I was broken and needed love the most, she gave me everything. She healed my shattered heart. Reina, we’ve missed our chance. Can’t you accept reality?”
“I won’t accept it!” Reina pushed him away and ran into the night.
From that day forward, Xavier never saw her again.

She had left for Estamcester to develop the market there. She didn’t even come back for his birthday.
Months later, on the anniversary of Derick’s death, Xavier went to the cemetery to pay his respects. As he descended the hill, he was suddenly ambushed by Hugo, who had been lurking in the shadows.

you let me destroy you, I might consider letting him go. What do you say?”
“I’d die for Xavier. What’s this compared to that?” Reina replied, walking toward them without a hins of fear in her expression. “Let me take his place.” Xavier’s face paled. He trembled as he called out, “Don’t come closer, Reina! He won’t let you go! He wants to run both of us!“
