Liam’s jaw clenched, his entire body rigid.
Evelyn let out a weak laugh, her eyes gleaming with sadistic satisfaction. “Amelia was right about you,” she
sneered. “You were never amnesiac, Liam. You just lost your mind.”
His grip wavered, and Evelyn took in a shuddering breath before continuing. “In this year, you let go of everyth that once mattered to you. You ignored Amelia when she begged you to see the truth. You rejected your own son. And now? Now, they’re gone, and you have nothing left.
“So go ahead,” she whispered, her voice low and taunting. “Kill me if you want. It wouldn’t change a damn thin!
Because the one person who truly loved you has already passed away.
Her words sliced through him like a blade.
Liam’s on
loosened. His entire body trembled, his mind spinning with the weight of what he had done.
The thought sent a crushing pain through his chest, a pain worse than anything he had ever felt before.
With a look of pure disgust, Liam released Evelyn completely, letting her drop to the floor in a coughing, gaspin
heap.
“You don’t deserve a death, Evelyn,” he spat, his voice cold, void of any warmth. He stepped back, glaring down
her as she clutched her throat, still smirking despite her near–death experience.
Liam’s fists clenched. “Just wait and see,” he said darkly, his voice promising destruction. “I will find every sing
piece of proof I need to ruin you.
“Mark my words, Evelyn, I will imprison you.”
Evelyn’s smirk faltered for just a moment, but Liam did not stay to watch it fade completely.
He dragged Evelyn out from his house together with her son, Lucas,
“Get out! Don’t ever set foot in this house again.
Liam slammed the door shut behind them, and then his body finally gave out
He sank to the floor, his back pressed against the door, his head falling into his hands. His heart pounded relentlessly in his chest as exhaustion and grief washed over him like a tidal wave.
After who knew how long, he came to his senses again.
Liam exhaled shakily, forcing himself to stand and strode toward the storage room.
He grabbed another scrapbook and flipped it open.

Pages and pages of handwritten notes, dried flowers, and photographs stared back at him. The past–the life he had erased–unfolded before his eyes.
He turned to a page detailing Theodore’s growth. My careful handwriting accompanied a photo of our son as a
baby.
Liam traced a finger over the image, his breath hitching.
“Right. He is our son. How could I forget about him, Amelia?”
Tears pricked his eyes as he turned another page.

“Right. He is our son. How could I forget about him, Amelia?”
Tears pricked his eyes as he turned another page.
“I really lost my mind in the darkness.”
The once–dry scrapbook was now soaked with his tears, each page feeling heavier than the last.
He moved from one book to another, desperately trying to piece together the memories that had been stolen
from him.
And then–he found it. A scrapbook from our second anniversary.
A note was written in neat cursive, accompanied by a photograph of the three of us–Liam, me, and Theodore- smiling at a celebration.
[Today is our happy day. Our son has turned a year old, and our marriage has reached two years. There is nothing more joyful than celebrating both happy days at once.
if happiness accompanies us, we got another piece of good news from our dear friend, Evelyn. She is pregnant with her boyfriend. Soon, Theodore will have a little brother.]
Liam’s fingers hovered over the words.
“Boyfriend?” His mind raced. “Who was her boyfriend?”
Then Liam turned the page again, his hands slightly trembling as he found my notes from the days leading up to
his accident.
[Liam was discussing a case that made him have to fight Evelyn as a lawyer and prosecutor. Their relationship became distant because of that.
I hope they will find a middle ground for the problem.]
The moment his eyes landed on those words, a sharp, piercing memory surged through him
“Liam, you’re taking this too far!” Evelyn had screamed, her face twisted with frustration.
Liam had remained impassive, standing firm as he gathered his case files. “I’m doing my job, Evelyn,” he said,
voice clipped. “It’s not personal,”
Evelyn scoffed, stepping closer, her anger rolling off her in waves. “Not personal? You just ruined my case! He didn’t deserve such a long sentence!”
eves cold
Liam’s jaw tightened. “That wasn’t my decision. It was the judge’s.” He turned to face her fully, his blue eyes and unwavering. “Our job is to present evidence and argue the law, Evelyn. If you lost, it’s because the evidence was against him. That’s the reality of our work.”
Her hands clenched at her sides. “No, the reality is you just can’t stand losing to me, Liam.”
Liam exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “This isn’t a competition. This is the law.” He turned away, unwilling to argue further. “Don’t bring this up again.”
But their relationship had never been the same after that.
Their conversations grew colder. The once–playful rivalry between them had turned into something bitter and
ugly. Evelyn had kept her distance, and Liam had welcomed it.
Then, months later, the very same client Evelyn had fought for had committed suicide in prison due to
depression.
Liam had barely reacted at the time–he had handled countless cases, and outcomes like these, though tragic, Warn not unheard of. But Evelyn, she had taken it personally.
Sitting there with my old journal in his hands, Liam finally understood.
‘That’s when she started hating me.‘

Forget Me Once Farewell Forever
Sitting there with my old journal in his hands, Liam finally understood.
‘That’s when she started hating me.”
She had held onto her grudge for far longer than he had realized.
He strode e toward his study since Liam needed to look at that case again.
As he flipped through the old files, details he had forgotten came back in flashes. He remembered his colleagues gossiping back then, whispering rumors about Evelyn’s personal involvement with her client.
“Liam, did you hear? They say Evelyn and her client are a little too close.”
“I’m telling you, I saw them having dinner together–alone. She seemed pretty… invested in this one.”
Liam had brushed it off at the time. He had been too exhausted to care about Evelyn’s private life.
But then his breath hitched as a chilling thought struck him like lightning.
“Is he Lucas’s father?”
