Chapter 7
I watched Nora’s award–winning performance without blinking, and just like I expected, she made another scene.
“Nora!” Samuel yelled as he rushed toward us. He helped Nora to get up and patted her dress. “Are you alright? Where did you get hurt? Tell me.“}
Nora pouted with tearful eyes. “It’s because of her! I was only trying to comfort her for what happened to her mother but she pushed me so hard that my chest hurt,” she said, pointing at me.”
“Why would you do that, Juliet? I only want to be friends with you,” Nora continued. Behind her angelic face, was a little devil who was so full of herself.”
Samuel turned to me and glared. “How vicious of you, Juliet! How can you hurt an innocent person?“>
Samuel was still the same. After all his promises over the phone, he was back to being a jerk who was under Nora’s thumb. He would believe whatever she said so why bother explaining to him my side? I would only waste my time and energy.
If not for Vincent, I wouldn’t even come here.
“I invited you here to make up with you but to do this to a patient, that’s too much Juliet. Are you not satisfied that I’m going to tell the world that I’m marrying you? You don’t have to hurt Nora just because I love her,” Samuel grumbled like an idiot.”
Who cared about his love for Nora except the latter? I was no longer bothered about it either. It was Nora who wanted to prove to me that she was going to be chosen no matter what happened.
And Nora was a patient? She looked very healthy.
“Why are you not saying anything? Didn’t you lie about coming here as part of your work? For all I know, you just want to see Samuel again after he dumped you!” Nora faked her coughs to get the sympathy of others.}
“Hold on, Nora. I got you,” Samuel said in panic as he fished out the inhaler from his pocket. He was worried about Nora’s health and safety so he always brought along an inhaler and medicine for her asthma.
“Here you go, Nor. Take a deep breath. Okay? You’ll be fine,” he said, rubbing Nora’s back while glaring at me.”
“I should not have told you to come, Juliet. It’s the biggest mistake to bring someone as evil as you to this banquet,” Samuel told me in a low voice.§
A few moments later, Nora’s breathing became stable. Well, she could make it even without the inhaler that Samuel gave her.”
Samuel wrapped his arm around Nora’s waist and faced me. “Forget everything that I said on the phone, Juliet. It turns out I can’t marry someone like you. Even after I promised you a wedding, you still dared to make a scene at the banquet. How am I supposed to tell the people that the woman I was supposed to marry is someone vicious like you are?“}]
Nora smirked at me, feeling proud of herself for being chosen by Samuel again.”
Shaking my head, I laughed. “I already told you, Samuel. There’s no need. I’m not going to marry you anyway,” I said before waving the recording pen I brought along with me.
I pressed the recording pen and an audio started to play.
“Well, whatever. Samuel will choose me over you anyway. He always did and always will.”
Everyone gasped after hearing the audio. I pressed it again to play the other recordings.}]
“You can pretend like you don’t care but tonight, I will make you realize that I’m the most important person in Samuel’s life. He’s going to choose me no matter what,” Nora said in the voice recorder. “Ah! Please, don’t hurt me!”
Nora looked at me in shock. “You bitch! I’m going to kill you!”
