Chapter 8
The guests gathered around and watched Nora lose her composure. She jumped at me in an attempt to grab my recording pen but I took a step back to avoid her.”
“This is a setup! You planned for this, bitch!” Nora screamed as she fell after leaping. “I’m going to let you pay for this humiliation!” Nora tried to grab my dress but Vincent stepped in and blocked her hand.
“Are you okay?” Vincent asked me, concerned.
Nodding, I replied, “Yes. Thank you.“W
The recording continued to play so everyone could still hear Nora’s voice while looking down at me and spouting hate.“/
After the recording was over, Samuel glowered at Nora who was kneeling on the floor. “What is this about, Nora? I always treated you like a little sister. Juliet is going to be my wife, not you!“}
Nora cried while crawling at Samuel’s feet. “No. Please, don’t abandon me, Samuel. Choose me. Choose me again like you always do!” She hugged Samuels‘ feet but he tried to kick her away.
Nora cried even harder as she held tightly to Samuel. “Remember your promise! You promised my parents that you’ll take care of me. You said you’re going to protect me! You told them not to worry! My parents are dead now so are you going to take back your words? Please, Samuel! Don’t leave me!” She screamed at the top of her lungs and fainted.
“Nora! Wake up. Open your eyes, Nora!” Samuel felt guilty for scolding Nora. He kept calling her name, hoping she’d wake up. Nora was born with Asthma. She had a crush on Samuel after meeting him for the first time, so she told her parents about it. Since their parents were good friends and business partners, Samuel started taking care of Nora whenever they weren’t around.
Nora must have believed that Samuel would never leave her and that she’d get whatever she asked from him. She always used her asthma as an excuse to make Samuel follow her requests. Over the past years, Nora just needed to mention her asthma attack and Samuel would be there to date and take care of her.
“What a bad acting. I thought she was good at it earlier,” I whispered before laughing hard.
I didn’t want to catch everyone’s attention but I couldn’t help laughing at the scene unfolding before me.
“What’s so funny, Juliet? Now that I think about it, you must have faked that recording to embarrass Nora! You already know that she’s
a patient and needs gentle treatment but you still did that to her in front of people?!” Samuel said in anger.
He was blaming me again for things I didn’t do. Wasn’t he kicking Nora earlier though? He knew she was sick but he still kicked her. Vincent was about to defend me but I stopped him and smiled. He understood what I meant so he stepped aside and let me through.
“Hold your horses, Samuel. If you want to know the truth behind Nora’s asthma, watch that first,” I said, handing him my phone with a video of Nora who was happily clubbing.”
Samuel couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Nora wearing a short and tight dress while rubbing her body against random men in the club. He thought she was innocent and gentle but seeing how Nora laughed as she drank and made out with strangers made him feel ridiculous.}
“Do you think I edited this one too? I don’t have all the time in the world to waste with both of you. This video was taken not long ago so before you point a finger at me t
