“What are you doing?!” A sudden angry shout shattered the tender atmosphere.
Gary stood at the courtyard gate, looking like he’d just caught his cheating wife, roared in fury, “Let go of my wife!“}
With bloodshot eyes, he charged forward and swung a punch at Frank. But Frank easily dodged and kicked him away instead.
Gary crawled up from the steps, he looked at me with a mix of unwillingness and pain. “Rose, stop it. I know you’re just mad at me. Marriage is no joke, you still have time to regret this. If you keep acting like this, I’ll really get angry. Even if you beg me later, I won’t take back used goods like you.”
Sometimes, I really admire Gary. Where did he get the confidence to think that no matter how deeply he hurt me, I’ll always love him unconditionally?
I sneered, “The thing I regret most in my life is loving a thief like you for five years.“}
At the word thief, Gary instinctively glanced at Frank, then guiltily argued, “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.“}
I exposed him without mercy, “You stole the credit for Frank saving my life and tricked me into falling in love with you. For five years, you found joy in humiliating me and trampling on my feelings. That was my own mistake. I don’t blame anyone else. Now I give you and Mariska my blessing. Just stop bothering me.”
“I’ll say it one last time, I don’t love you anymore, not now and not ever again. From now on, there will only be one man in my husband. Please have some self–respect and stay out of my life.” I turned and walked away, I refused to look at Gary’s defeated, lifeless heart, my expression.
I thought I’d made myself clear enough. But just three days later, Gary showed up again.”
This time, he dragged a bruised and battered woman and threw her at my feet.
It took me a moment to realize, it was Mariska.
Gary said, “Rose, you were right. I was an idiot, I didn’t see my heart clearly. I’ve reflected carefully. It’s all this cheap woman’s fault. If she hadn’t seduced me, I would never have betrayed or hurt you. She’s the real culprit.“}
Mariska, whether brainwashed or just beaten into submission, nodded frantically.
With her twisted, broken legs, she knelt before me and banged her head repeatedly, “Miss Parker, I’m the cheap one. I threw myself at Gary. Everything is my fault. His heart has always belonged to you. Please, I beg you, give him another chance.”@
She looked terrified, she curled up like a ball, clearly afraid someone might come beat her again.
Gary kicked her aside and suddenly found his confidence again. He quickly pulled out two divorce papers and gave me a fawning smile, Rose, I already divorced Mariska. I’m single now. I don’t mind that you’re secondhand. Let’s get you and Frank divorced and then we can get married right away, okay?“>
“No! Looking at his self–righteous and hypocritical face, my stomach turned. “Where do you even get the nerve to say you don’t mind me? You’ve always used women as shields to hide your hypocritical, greedy nature.“}
I said again, “You just realized that without me clinging to you, you lost all the glory, all the advantages I brought you. Without the Parker Family propping up the Osborn Family, you’re nothing. You’re panicking now, afraid you’ll never return to the good old days, that’s why you’re groveling and apologizing.“”
“But in truth, you don’t think you did anything wrong. Mariska and I were just pieces in your calculation. You never loved anyone. You only love yourself. You put on this show of deep affection so well you even fooled yourself. Honestly, you make me sick,” I sneered.}
