Chapter 5
His hands, which had been hanging limply at my sides, suddenly flexed.[]
He laughed softly, though his eyes glistened with something suspiciously like tears.[]
“So you don’t hate me anymore?“]]
Once, I had despised everything about Julian–his restraint, his formality, his adherence to rules and expectations.
My greatest desire had been to see that perfect façade crumble.
But now, watching his collarbone flush red beneath his shirt collar, observing the movement of his throat as he swallowed, I realized this ice–prince aesthetic had its own powerful allure.
Perhaps what I’d always loved most was watching such controlled men fall from grace.[]
As his arms tightened around me, eliminating any remaining space between us, Julian’s cool lips met mine. For a moment, my mind went blank with surprise.
Then desire took over. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pressing him down with surprising force.[]
1 bit his lips with frustrated passion, attempting to channel all my suppressed emotions through this stoic vessel of a man.

When Julian seized control, binding my wrists behind my back and pressing me against the steering wheel, I surrendered completely. My hair fell in disarray across his shoulders.
The phone I’d tossed onto the console suddenly rang.
I tried to ignore it, but accidentally hit the answer button instead.[]
Rhys’s cold, tense voice came through the speaker: “Camden, you left your things at my place.“]
“I’ll be in Northbrook for business in a couple days. I can bring them to you.“]
My breathless gasps and the unmistakable sounds of kissing registered clearly through the phone.[]
I pressed my forehead against Julian’s, silently asking him to end the call, when we heard the sound of breaking glass from the other end.[]
Rhys roared, “Camden, say something!”
With my hands still bound behind me by Julian’s grip, my body was involuntarily on display. Julian’s fingers pressed against my lips, rubbing them deliberately.[
Julian’s smile was audible as he spoke: “My lady is rather busy at the moment. I don’t think she has time for your call, Mr. Keller.”

Even with his lip bleeding from my bite, Julian remained perfectly composed.[]
Rhys sounded ready to destroy his phone: “If you touch her, I’ll fucking feed you to the sharks!”
Julian remained unfazed: “Mr. Keller, you’re welcome to try.”
He ended the call and gazed at my unfocused eyes. “You won’t disappoint me, will you?” he asked softly.
He spoke as though I might kick him away at any moment.[]
Looking at his reddened lips, my mind blanked and I blurted out: “With me here, what’s there to worry about?“]
As I wrapped my arms around his neck to kiss him again, a recording suddenly played through the car’s speakers.]
Julian smirked and kissed the corner of my mouth.]
Thank you, Camden,” he murmured.[]
I swear, I could have kissed that soft spoken version of Julian to death.]
The next day. I couldn’t even look Julian in the eye when I thought about what I’d done to him.
In public, Julian maintained his composed, elegant demeanor that everyone recognized–always the gentleman with impeccable manners. But at night, when he’d bring me warm milk before bed, he’d linger at my door, casually asking. “Does my lady need to release some tension tonight?“]
God knows how tempting he looked in those silk V–neck pajamas, his lips still bearing my bite marks from earlier encounters.]
But 1, Camden Hayes, wasn’t so easily swayed. I’d gulp down the warm milk and firmly shut the door in Julian’s face []
Tonight, he knocked on my door as usual. I lazily raised an eyebrow, ready to preemptively refuse him with a “Not tonight Instead, Julian titted his head, gesturing toward two figures sitting on the sofa downstairs–Rhys had arrived and he wasn’t alone. He’d brought Lily with him!!

My heart felt seized by invisible hands, something crumbling inside me. Pathetically, my first instinct was still to run away from such confrontations.[

I slammed the door shut and coldly sta
“Tell them to get lost.”
Julian nodded quietly, but his fingers remained firmly pressed against the door. “Camden, he’s here on business.“]
This was his way of telling me I needed to go downstairs. When Julian decided something, no one could change his mind.[]
For reasons I couldn’t explain, I felt a surge of irritation. Still, I followed behin
him with a cold expression.
Rhys spotted me immediately. Seeing me trailing so closely behind Julian darkened his expression considerably.
He dangled a black lace lingerie piece from his fingertips, cutting straight to the point: “Casquet
leaving things like this at my place after a breakup would cause trouble.”
When Rhys traveled for work, he’d had a habit of taking some of my personal items with him. He claimed he couldn’t sleep without something of mine nearby.
I remembered this particular piece well. When packing my things, I couldn’t find it and assumed Rhys had thrown it away long ago. Instead, it had probably been in his luggage all this time.
Imagining him holding my lingerie with reddened eyes made me suddenly nauseated. If he’d already decided to end things
