Chapter 10 She’s Not Getting Away That Easily
Olive, this was all Mr. Horton’s idea. He told us to give you a proper welcome!
“olive, you wicked woman! You’re no longer the Swanson family’s heir! Your tather disowned you, and you have nothing now. You’re just a murderer!”
“Olive, Mr. Horton said you are better off dead. You’re an eyesore jast for being alive.”
Then came the beatings. She lived in tear every day, and there wasn’t an inch of skin that was left untouched. The last image in her mind was of her collapsing by the tollet, covered in blood.
The voices echoed like curses. Twisted, prolesque, and unbearably ugly faces flashed through her mind. No matter how hard olive tried to push them away, th
wouldn’t leave her alone.
olive jolted awake from the nightmare. Sitting up straight, sweat dripped down her forehead as she gasped for air. Her eyes were wide with fear.
A month later, Olive read an article in the newspaper. Her father had brought Galina into the Swanson family as the new heiress. Even the tortons released a statement to acce Galinnas Trevor’s lancée.
If that was the case, what did that make Olive?
What was she now
It had been five years, and her hands and feet were crippled she had thought that when she lett Torsville behind, she would never have to see Trevor again.
So, why had fate dragged her back into his path?
Olive lowered her head and closed her eyes. A tear slipped down bec cheek
Just then, a chubby little hand reached out and wiped away olive’s tears. Solana crawled out from under the covers and hugged her.
Her voice was sott and sweet when she said, “Mommy, don’t cry. I’ll give you a hug, then you won’t have nightmares anymore
olive smiled gently at the little round face in front of her. She pulled Solana Into her arms and said, “You’re a good girl, Lana. Mommy’s okay.” “Mommy, Ms. Buster told me another fairy tale today?” Solana said softly as she curled up in Olive’s arms,
“ph? she did?” Olive sled
“Yeah! The princess lived happily ever after with the prince. I hope I have a prince to protect me one day too!” olive couldn’t help but smile a little bitterly at the longing in Solana’s voice.
Fairy tales were just that—stores.
Reality was never that perfect. She had spent ten years of her youth and five years in prison to prove that
No matter how deep the love, it meant nothing in the end.
“Mommy, why can all the other kids run but not me?” Solana asked, her voice tinged with some hurt. She looked at Olive with eyes full of sadness.
Olive froze for a moment, then pulled Solana close. She gently kissed Solana on the forehead and said, “You’re just a little weaker, that’s all. I’ll get you cured, and one day you’ll be just like all the other kids!”
“Really?” Bolana looked up aclar with bright eyes.
“Yeah!” Olive held Solana tightly, and a faint, bitter smile played on her lips,
No matter how hard it got, she would find a way to get enough money for Solana’s heart transplant.
But knowing Trevor, he would never let her get away that easily.
What should she do?
What was she supposed to do?
In Stratusville, Inside the quesidential suite of the Ashford Hotel, Trevor stood by the floor–to–ceiling window, his expression dark and gleamy. No matter how hard he tried to push her out of his mind, Clive’s lace kept surfacing.
How could the woman who spoke so lightly about selling herself be Olive?
Connor pushed the door open and walked in to see Trevor by the window. There was some loneliness to the latter’s silhouette.
Connor sighed softly and stepped up beside Trevor,
“Trever, I’ve looked into Olive for you.”
