Chapter 21 I Need to See Trevor
Connor sighed softly when he saw Masie reacting like this,
“Masie, no matter what Olive did, that child is only four years old, and she’s your brother’s daughter.”
So, you think I’m in the wrong, too, don’t you? Masie asked, her voice quivering with hurt.
Connor didn’t respond directly. He simply smiled and ruffled her soft hair before saying, “That bitter and harsh person from a moment ago that just isn’t you
Masie.
With that, he turned and headed for the hospital as well. He wanted to go check on how Solana was doing.
Solana was taken to one of the Horton–owned hospitals. When Commnt arrived, Trevor was standing alone outside the emergency room
“Trevor, how is she?”
Trevor didn’t respond. He merely walked over to the window, lit a cigarette, and took a puff. Amidst the hazy smoke, his almond–shaped eyes seemingly darkened further, huming unreadable.
“Since we’re already at the hospital, you might as well gett
et the paternity test done.”
“Mm,” Trevor responded tonelessly.
Just then, the light above the emergency room tumed off, and the doctor walked out. When he saw Trevor, he explained respectfully, “The child’s fine. She just passed out from overstimulation.”
Trevor gave only faint grunt in response before saying coldly, “Director Chilton, draw her blood for a paternity test,”
Sure, no problem. But can we wait until the child stabilizes first?” Marty Chilton asked.
Frowning, Trevor asked flatly, “Why?“”
Marty replied honestly, “The child has a serious congenital heart disease. She fainted because her emotions spiked overwhelmingly, which led to reduced blood flow to her heart. Let her rest for a couple of days, then I’ll arrange for her blood to be drawn for the test, Will that work?
To be honest, Marty was still shaken. It was a good thing the girl had been brought to him in time. If they’d been even half an hour later, she might not have made it. Thankheavens she hadn’t died in his care, otherwise, he’d have been in serious trouble.
When Trevor heard this, his previously cold expression cracked, and he visibly lost composure. His pupils contracted as he turned to look at Solana lying nearby. She was only four–just four–and she was suffering from such a condition?
In that moment, the extraordinarily good–looking man finally lost control of his emotions, with his voice trembling, he aslood, “Will she die?”
Marty shook his head. “Not for now. But she needs a heart transplant as soon as possible. And you must avoid overstimulating her–her body won’t be able to take
With a wave of his hand, Trevor signaled for Marty to wheel Solana into a VIP word. He remained standing by the window, staring out into the pitch–black night sky that sigetched so far out that it seemed endless.
The next morning, Olive landed back in the city she had grown up it. But she didn’t have time to reminisce about anything. Instead, she took a cab and went straight to the Horton mansion. The only thing she wanted to do now was to see Solana.
The little girl was her life, and her only reason for living.
When Olive rang the doorbel, the one who answered was Alfred Lindt, a butler who had been working for the Hortons for a long time. He had watched Olive grow up, and thus he naturally recognized her.
“Ms. Swanson, you’re out? Since you’re free now, you should go live your life properly. Don’t come loolding for Mr. Hopton again.”
“Alfred, please let me in. I need to see Trevor, I need to see him…”
It had been a whole 24 hours since she had seen Solana, so Olive was already on the verge of losing her mind. She telentlessly begged Alfred to let her in. Alfred sighed helplessly. “Ms. Swanson, why male yourself suffer like this? What’s the point?”
