Chapter 24 Some People Are Like Strays
When Trevor claimed that Solana was his daughter, Olive couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

If it weren’t for the promise she made to Annie to stay alive and for Solana, she would’ve died in that filthy, dark prison a long time ago.
And now he had the nerve to claim Solana was his daughter.

She laughed until her eyes turned blurry with tears. “Mr. Horton, have you lost your mind? You’re seriously saying Solana is your daughter? Since when did you start claiming random kids as your own That’s not usually your style.”
She paused, then looked at Trevor’s darkened face as if something had just clicked. “Oh… Did Galina’s sins finally catch up with her and she isn’t able to give you a child? That explains why you’re desperate enough to try and steal the daughter of a so–called murderer,”
Triggered, Trevor’s voice turned ice cold. “Olive, I dare you say that again.”
She wasn’t afraid. Her cold stare locked onto the striking man in front of her, who was no longer the graceful, gentle man she had once loved so deeply.
She said slowly, “Trevor, if I’m counting right, it’s been 17 years since we first met at the Horton residence. I gave you all of my youth and thought even if you stopped loving me, you’d at least belleve in me. But five years in that godforsaken pelson showed me that some people are like strays, no matter how much you give, they’ll still tum on you. And love is just something so pointless that no amount of it would ever be enough”
Her voice was so cold that it seemed like the man in front other wasn’t ‘someone the once loved with all her heart, but just another stranger.
She tilted her head slightly and asked with calm eyes that sent chills. So what now, Mr. Horon? Don’t tell me you’re actually still hung up on a ‘murderer‘ like me. Are you hoping we can pick up where we left off?”
The moment those words left her lips, something cracked on Trevor’s usually emotionless face. His hand shot our, grabbing Olive by the throat. His smile was cold as death. “Who taught you to act so tough on the outside, yet so weak inside?”
Her whole body felt cold, but she didn’t flinch. Instead, she looked him in the eye and said with a soft, mocking laugh, “I have to thank you for that, Mr. Horton Without your heartless betrayal, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today.”
Trevor’s body jolted, as if his blood had started flowing in reverse.
From the moment they reunited at Reign, he had never looked at her closely. But now, as she stood right in front of him, he finally realized that she had changed, to the point that she felt like a stranger.

The Olive be remembered used to laugh easily. Her smile would light up her whole face, and her eyes would curve like crescent moons. But now.. he couldn’t even picture that smile anymore.
“Listen to me, Trevor, I’ll say it one last time. Solana is not your daughter Give my child back to me.”
The moment those words landed, a shadow fell over Trevor’s face. His eyes turned dark and dangerous. The air in the garden shifted, cold and heavy.
Without a word, be grabbed her hand and dragged her inside.
