Chapter 19
Clara made the waiter serve them more drinks. She grabbed the drinks from the waiter at the door.
When no one was watching, she pulled out a sachet of a mysterious substance from her bag and poured it into a cup of tea.
She was glad that this substance had been put to use.
Then, she cautiously placed the teacups on the table, distributing them to all attendees by herself.
First, she offered Russell a cup of tea. Following that, she gave the second cup to Cassandra.
She deliberately glanced at Cassandra with a tiny smirk on her face.
That gaze immediately set off the alarm bells in Cassandra’s head.
She knew she had to be extra wary when she was around Clara.
Clara had just become an outcast after trending online because of the pool incident. Instead of staying at home, she had decided to come to this meeting.
What was the motive behind this move?
Cassandra touched the warm teacup and sank into deep thoughts.
Staring down at the amber–colored tea, she picked up an odd scent from the steam.
She quietly set her cup of tea on the table and pretended to straighten out her skirt.
“Ms. Callum, don’t you enjoy the tea?” Russell smiled at her. “This is premium Spring Wyrm tea.”
“Mr. Hawk, you first.” Cassandra raised her head and flashed him a professional smile.
Laughing heartily, he downed his cup of tea.
Clara gleefully drank her tea too.
When Cassandra picked up her cup, ready to take a sip, her hand suddenly trembled, and some tea spilled onto her hand. The liquid later dripped onto her clothes.
Her hand became red, stinging from the burn.
Gasping loudly, she said apologetically, “Oh, that’s too bad. Allow me to clean up.”
With that, she stood up and headed to the restroom.
Clara watched Cassandra leave with a frown. Did that bitch notice something amiss? Why did she spill the tea for no reason?
However, she soon engaged in a merry conversation with Russell after noting that there was still some tea left in Cassandra’s cup.
At that moment, Russell suddenly noticed Clara’s enthusiasm, her good looks, and her hourglass figure.
Although she was not as pretty as Cassandra, she was more open and enthusiastic.
They chatted happily for a while.
Cassandra heaved a relieved sigh after she left the private dining room.
When she was about to go to the restroom, she bumped into someone, causing her cheeks to b
She looked up and rested her gaze on an impeccably handsome face.
The dim lighting in the restaurant illuminated his chiseled features.
It was Tristan! What a coincidence! The encounter took her by surprise.
He smiled when he ran into her.
“What are the odds? You’re here for dinner too!”
In truth, he had purposely shown up to create a chance encounter.
hurt.
He knew Cassandra had to attend a work–related dinner, and knowing her unfavorable position in the company, he made Liam look into the restaurant she would be heading to.
He was worried about Cassandra, especially after knowing that the client she’d be meeting was the sleazy Russell Hawk.
Thus, he invited his friends to meet at the same restaurant. Surprisingly, the food here was decent.
Still, he didn’t want Cassandra to find out about his plans for fear she’d think he was interfering with her job. So, he faked the chance encounter.
